Any Texans for Kinky?

I've been a huge fan of Kinky Friedman ever since a good friend of mine played a 45RPM single shaped as the Star of David that had "They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore" circa 1980.

Kinky's website has a lot of the details on his independent run for Govenor of Texas. Because I live in Boston, I'm a long way from being a Texas resident, which is too bad because I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. He's the one Texan who doesn't talk bullshit.

Are there any SL Texans who are seriously considering supporting Kinky for Govenor? Is it feasible that he'll be able to run a competitive campaign?

I'm a Texan currently living in Colorado (hopefully relocating back to Austin soon) but I'd vote for Kinky.

My bad... I didn't realize this has been discussed before.

There's a quirk of Texas election law that I find interesting. Because Kinky wants to run as an Independent, he's going to have to gather a whole bunch of signatures to get on the general election ballot. What I find strange is that he has to gather these signatures after the primaries, and only those people who didn't vote in the primary are eligible to sign a petition to put him on the ballot in November.

So... What this means is that Texas law encourages anyone who wants to support Kinky's bid for govenor to not vote in the primary. It sure seems pretty stupid to have a law that actually discourages participation in the democratic process.

Perhaps Kinky's campaign slogan during the primaries should be "Don't Vote! For Kinky".
