I have a Live365 station. However, short of paying exorbitant fees you can't broadcast directly from your parcel (it requires a login for a normal station). I love Live365 because it's generally hassle free and I don't have the skill to set up an Icecast server or anything.

SL Streaming

Hi there,
We currently offer streaming relay services to SL residents/event holders for linden dollars. If you don't have the bandwidth to host multiple streams, need a reliable service and want to play live or prerecorded music into SL, just drop me an IM. We currently run shoutcast and icecast servers so we can support MP3, MP3Pro and OGG formats. I've also setup a how to stream music in SL notecard in the store pod if you are interested in finding out whats involved in getting your music into SL with the minimum of fuss. Alternatively you can read the howto at http://JamieOtis.Com. We have been offering flexible streaming for single events as well as 24/7 weekly streaming.. Any questions just drop me an IM ![]() Jamie SL Streaming : The Music Never Stops.... secondlife://Mauve/14/86 : Mauve (14, 86) Notice ======== If you choose to stream your own music into SL directly or using a streaming relay host, the content and any copyright/royalty fees and any other possible issues are the sole responsibility of the individual, we currently do not monitor the content of broadcasts. |

Ice Brodie hosts a icecast server on-demand. Rates are pretty cheap.

Holy hell... I'd love to get in contact with either one of those people about making my Live365 station playable over my land. I'm pretty flexible and would be willing to pay any fair price. Damn, this community helps people more than any other I've been a part of. Sure, I know the fact that we're all using massive amounts of tools encourages us to "do what we're good at" and help other people out, but it's still damned impressive.
I will attempt to IM both those people; feel free to bug me first though ![]() _____________________

I have a server at home that I'm running shoutcast on. I'm broadcasting 64kbps stereo on my land and stressed it to 18 listeners with no problem. I have a cable modem and use no-ip.com to forward to my dynamic IP address. Works great and I have full control over what I listen to. The other day I streamed an archived episode of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me from their NPR site and had a great time listening with friends.

I'd recommend against Live365 - however, you can actually get Live365 to stream in world without the extra fees. Download WinAMP, and in Live365 set your preferences to NOT use the Live365 player - set it to external player. This will load it in winamp. That right click on the marquee and VIEW STREAM INFO and use THAT url in the info box and it should work.
That being said... contact Hudson Stryker. He runs his own ISP and specializes in hosting streams. Many in SL use him already. Cheers, -Flip _____________________

I could never get live365 streaming to work on the package i signed up with (three months ago).
Live365 used unique sessions to track listeners and once i got over 3 people in the plot it would give an error message to anyone else who joined the plot. I don't think the professional packages offered by live365 have these problems however that's an expensive option. If people have got this working using their own live365 accounts i would be interested to know (without having to go outside sl and use winamp/webpage to get a session). Jamie SL Streaming |

I run my Live365 station on my land 24x7 in Basic, or looped, mode, and then use it live when I'm doing an event. It's a bit bothersome to get the enormous URL involved, but I just pick it out of MusicMatch and pop it in the Land dialog and off it goes. I can switch from Live to Looped and back without having to change the URL at all.
The only time I've had to update the URL is when Live365 has a major shutdown. I run a Personal Broadcasting account there - I think its the P300 package at ~$80US per quarter. I thought that was reasonable and setup was simple. _____________________
