Gamers Anonymous. Are you addicted?

I find myself getting little sleep..I find myself craving to play..I enjoy Secondlife so much..am I losing touch with Real Life? Is it a desease? These are some questions that I think about sometimes..how do you feel? Does it effect your real life? Are you an addict if so why?

I get NO sleep at weekends what soever, very little during the week, I sit on the SL forums ALL day at work, I haven't eaten a proper meal since May 22nd, I no longer no what a TV is, , I expect to be able to TP everywhere, and I want to pay for things in linden dollars...

It does get to you. I woke up in the middle of the night - felt really hot so opened the window. Still half asleep, looked out and saw something being done to a building near me - I bent my knees ready to fly out of the window to go have a look.

There is an exhibition centre not too far from me and when they have events on, they sometimes put up moving lights in the sky. I looked up and thought, they are going to cause so much lag.

Sad but true. SL is addictive - official.

That is more or less me...... expect also i have found myself waking up from a dream as i am supose to say something in it and discover that i am moving my hands as i am typing.....
I am such a mess.
I do get some proper meals every now and then though, as i evry so ofhen get's asked to friends and familys houses for dinner.
How will i survive if i have to go weeks without a connection that makes me able to connect to Sl.
Sure i will get on the forum. But the connection will be to slow for sl...

The Ten Top Reasons I know I'm Addicted to SL

1. No Sleep.

2. I don't eat anything except microwave dinners in front of the PC.

3. Trolling the forums all day at work.

4. Counting the PRIMs in RL Furniture

5. Trying to edit RL Plants in Photoshop because they don't look quite right.

6. Only clothes shopping for Rose Karuna now. (Hubby loves this benefit of SL)

7. Umm TV? What's a TV?

8. Typing "w00t" in RL work emails and signing them Rose Karuna.

9. Buying a new keyboard because I really did spit diet coke on it laughing.

10. Spent a moment looking for my "dance" bracelet when hubby suggested we go clubbing in RL last weekend.

Hehe....I woke my husband to tell him goodbye yesterday morning and he said to me "Good job on the lamp". <<blinks>> huh?

about 3 years ago, I thought The Sims was the hottest thing out there. I got that game for Christmas and never slept. I know, I know, that was insane and that was just The Sims. Now, do you think i am in my right mind playing Second Life? At first, I was introduced to There.com. On my first day at There.com a guy (really sweet guy) happened to talk to me. Of course, as open as I am, I ask what all can i do here and he began telling me about buying hover bikes and clothes and crap. And I said, NO, you don't get what i am saying, WHAT CAN I DO HERE? you know, KISS? SEX? WHAT!!!! so, he showed me that kissing was the only thing and as far as we can go. But then he said, But i play this other game called Second Life! ****** WOOOOT ***** changed my life forever! hehe so i signed on to Second Life and he showed me the BALLS!!!!!! and his BALL ROOM, lmao! I was such a noob! Thank god, I didn't have permission to delete those suckers, because i was a mess trying to right click them and getting positioned right. Because in SL, it is all in the position and how good you sound on Skype, hehe. okay enough, but yeah i think i am hooked. WHAT WAS THE QUESTION AGAIN?

So did I an boy was I ever addicted....... Boy I really now gotta meet ya in game.... LOLOL Are GAMES adicting (NOT just SL)? ABSOLUTLY!!! I have played a TON of them over the years, a ton, an I can tell you for a fact, that I was indeed adicted to the best of them! Halo, TSO, Jedi Academy (God was I addicted to THAT game), Planetside, NWN, Need For Speed 3, and of coure Second Life...........

I myself have masive bouts of insomnia at times, so of course I find myself in front of the PC either playing SL or surfing the web/yahoo ya know. We are ALL addicted to something in our lives. Some of us even have a TON of things they may be addicted too, and for some it can be a big problem!!! Drugs, sex, SL, Forums postings, the PC, cars & racing, sports, the TV, friendships, creating, work, and even washing one's own hands. There are many, many forms of addiction. Some good. Some bad. It is all a matter if the addiction adds to the quality of your life insted of subtracts from it......

TSO was extereamly addicting for a while. So much so that I too started puting real life stuff into TSO terms. I am also starting to see that it is happening with SL also but seeing as SL has no "NEEDS", the effect is sort of less. However SL is a great addiction as far as I am concerned (less it hurts your RL) so I'm happy with it.......

An Roxy baby, I'm with you....... If anyone has any doubts if you are addicted or not to SL, well I say just ask your spouse! Beleave me, ask MY wife an she will tell you all in BIG terms how much I am....

I find the characters in SL more colorful than the ones in RL. Grimmy Moonflower is an inspiration for us all.

LOL, I hear ya! When I first started, I made myself a promise to never exceed the $25 tier level. When I hit the $40 tier level, I decided that the 1/8th tier level would just have to suffice. So, it's forced me to become a "prim conservationalist." I have spent hours and hours re-building and re-texturing my builds to make them fit into my prim allotment.

Regarding sleep, oy vey. I now have a self-imposed curfew of 1AM local time. I do a pretty good job of maintaining the curfew, but I am so wired after logging off that it generally takes up to an hour to actually fall asleep.

Addictive? Yeah, but I think it's manageable provided that I stick to the boundaries I set.

1 year ago I would have died if I missed my nightly SL gambit.

Now I am closing in on Christmas and the 2year mark but now its not so fearful that I will be away from SL for a week ....a whole week...um wait what am I talking about...IM GONNA DIE....somebody anybody tell me I will be ok hmmmm some support here people.

i am so addicted that i am contemplating paying 80 dollars a month (REAL MONEY) so I can get a broadband wireless connection.... and thats only so I can play SL on my laptop where i go!!! Now if that isnt addicted, I dont know what is!!!

I have been going through SERIOUS SL withdrawal since my DSL got cut off. It sucks my monkey's uncle's balls!

As a result I have been posting on the forums like a maniac to make up for lack of in world time. I plan to get the DSL back up by the 15th --

But in the meantime I am spending quality time with my books and vaccuum .. funny how my apartment looks suspiciously cleaner when I can't get onto SL.
