How to Transfer Inventory Between Accounts?

I am four days into my seven-day trial. I have really enjoyed myself and would like to go ahead and create a real account. However, I created my avatar name in haste and would like to choose something else. I do not see any way that I can change my name (which I recognize is actually a good thing). Therefore here are my questions:

1. Should I just cancel this seven-day-trial and go create a new account with the name I like?
2. If so, is there any way I can transfer my inventory from this account to my new account?
3. For example, can I package up my inventory and put it somewhere that I can obtain with my new account?

Hi there

First off, yes, you should create a new account. My advice is that you gather everything you want to transfer into one easy-to-find place in your inventory (maybe a specific folder.) Don't transfer everything, since the basic inventory you started with will be available to your new avatar. Create the new account, log in as the old account, and drop all the stuff on the Profile of the new account. Log into the new account, verify that you got everything you wanted, and then close the old (current) account.

I don't recommend transfering L$, since it's probably against TOS. (I'm not sure if it is or not, but, it probably is.)

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be permissible. Why should any payment from any player to any other be disallowed (barring fraud or coercion)?

Transferring L$ from one avatar to another is absolutely permitted. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Well, I remember, back in beta, if you had more than one account, it wasn't acceptable to take all the money from all the "alt" accounts and give it to the main account. Not sure how it is now, since Linden Lab approves of "alt" accounts now, while they didn't back in beta.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that before. Now, does "Not acceptable" mean "bannable" or just "poor form"?

I don't remember, really...go look in some of the VERY old Announcements, there should be some post, probably by Robin, about it. Maybe my memory is bad...*shrug*

James, thanks for your help. I will try what you suggest (I assume I can drag items onto a profile even if that account isn't logged in?). Oh, and I really don't have any $L so that is not an issue

In beta, the accounts were free, right, James? I've seen the posts from the Lindens about alt accounts during beta and how they didn't want players to have them. However, since it is now clearly stated that each player can have up to five accounts, I can't imagine a reason why money or goods couldn't or shouldn't be transferred between them.

Minimum length? NOOOOO! I am king of the one word reply!
