Unmaintained land.....

There is a fair amount of land in tehama (specifically surrounding my house *evil grin*) that is owned by people who either no longer play, or have long since been deleted.

2 examples:
1. Deitrich Kiesler
2. Mrfishopolis Stephanopolis

Find person reveals nothing of these two people.

Yet they still own pieces of land.

Does this land go up for sale on the 12 of January?

Does this land never go up for sale?

I only say this because I am going on vacation soon (Jan 5-17), and I'd be awfully disappointed if I missed the sale of that land only to have to try and barter with someone else to buy it again.

1 of the pieces of land is totally enclosed with my land, and another is surrounded by my land on 3 sides.

Other things: There are random bits of Governor Linden's walkways inbetween parcels of land that I own. I'd like to buy those parcels up, and replace those ugly walkways with nice shiny new ones, preferably ones which are also more prim efficient.

One of the largest problems with my area in Tehama is that there are several builds which consist of nothing but random prims, and have been unmaintained (or ownder by deleted players) for some time now. It gives the area a very haphazrd and UGLY look.

I'd like to do something about that, even if it woudl stupidly cost me a gob of money in monthly land payments. (well, I don't plan on spending more than $20, anyways

Please, some linden help me out on this

If the land is going up for sale on the 12th, will someone enter into an agreement to buy it for me, and then I will pay you the land fees in L$+R$ in game/through paypal once I return?

Don't mind the construction mess, I'm not sure what to do with the place yet, as it certainly depends on whether or not I can consolidate the surrounding parcels of land.

Bit, this brings up a good issue I have with the current policy regarding old/outdated/closed accounts. I like the idea that the Lindens 'hold' everything for you for up to 60 days, so that if, by chance, you change your mind and want to come back *poof* it was as though you never left.

I like this feature with one exception: the holding of land. Personally, I think that if an account is closed, the Lindens should place all of the items into the inventory of the closed account and release the land. I'm sure that something like 90% of those that leave, never return. While it may be a bonus to those that do return, it causes the rest of us IW alot of grief.

I think with the new system under 1.2, and how we are even more tied to land, the Lindens should be more responsive about releasing lands under closed accounts.

I also wonder how much land is used by perminant, non-active accounts.

One one side of my land is a simple house owned by a player who was created 7 months ago and has been rated to +1 ONCE. Obviously, they have logged in rarely if ever past their first days.

But they are listed as a lifetime account, so will never go away.

I have sent emails, but no response. I am assuming this was some sort of gift account, as most people would not pay a few hundred dollars and never come back.

It woudl be nice if stuff liek this could get cleane dup too.. as it's a real pain as long as the severe shortage of (at least Mature sim) land continues.

I'm in the same position; my 'neighbor' in Hawthorne apparently joined in June, bought a chunk of land, rezzed four objects, and left, never to be heard from again. I'd dearly love to have that property, but I haven't gotten a response to my IM to her.

Will this land come available for purchase on 1/12, and if so, is there going to be a land run on all the abandoned properties? (And if so, what time will the land be freed up, so I can be sure to be online?)

Dittos for me, Daysleeper Midnight owns a very small square of land thats very high rised and just with one spinning cone on it.

The property is still "sale pending)", would property like that be released also?

Let me add my probably unecessary comments to this. I have a small area in TAN that I have enclosed on all sides which belongs to a player (Belle Small) who obviously bought it in AUGUST and hasn't been back since...
So Lindens, what will happen come Jan 12? Will we get a chance to get those pieces? For some of us, they are small sections that we have boxed in long ago, such a shame to see them wasted.. Trying to call on these players obviously does no good. What a shame

me too me too. two little parcels in fact. is it unreasonable to expect them to claim the land over a two week period? especially since it follows the 1.2 announcement two weeks before that? especially since the rest of us have to have done all this by the 12th? what makes them so special?

am i rambling again? is a linden gonna answer this question?
