A view about the Bush administration put together by a couple of our neighbors to the north. I found some of it fairly compelling.

I watched a good portion of this last night before I fell asleep. It's not as entertaining as F9/11 but in many ways it's the documentary F9/11 should have been. I was really surprised that Moore didn't really mention the back-story of the neo-cons and the influence of the christian evangelicals. It's definitely worth watching. It's a story we shouldn't have to rely on foreign journalists to tell us.

It's a story we shouldn't have to rely on foreign journalists to tell us. I agree that it is a bit slow. It seems (with the exception of some personal opinions proffered by some interviewees) fairly factual and leaves real thinking to the viewer rather than some overpaid, closed minded ignoramus'. This should serve to expose the problem with the US media; hyping everything up, causing more tension than there should be, fostering partisan agendas, spreading disillusionment, preying on peoples fears and emotions, and generally confusing the issues and the voting community. "Hey! If we get pepople all excited and upset they will come back for more, and probably tell their friends too!" I haven't been able to watch any of our (US) news programs on TV for the past few weeks because the level of speculation, disinformation and partisan driven agenda pushing has surpassed that which that I am willing to endure. I am fairly liberal. I usually vote that way too, and will certainly be this year, however I do not appreciate the pandering, politicking, scoop driven, know-it-all approach some of these news outlets employ. There are some conservative and liberal pundits on network TV (don't even get me started on FOX and CNN) that I simply cannot listen to without feeling like my head will explode. /me starts a petition to have the words "In God We Trust" changed to "In Jon Stewart We Trust". LOL! Hey I would even put his bust on currency! ![]() If I wear a bow tie will people take me more seriously? _____________________

I'm with you, Nolan. I've pretty much hit critical mass with mainstream media. I can hardly stand to watch it anymore. I can almost feel IQ points being leeched out of my brain by osmosis when I do. Democracy absolutely depends on a free and agressive press. I worry about the future. I don't know how what's happened to our media can be undone. I honestly don't know how some of these people can sleep at night. Are they all just so vacuuous that they don't understand the harm they're doing? It's like if all the doctors in the country one day decided to start just handing out candy instead of healing anyone.

So true. Have you ever watched *FOX & Friends* early morning? It's almost sickening how little those idiots actually know, yet they just continue to pick at all any and points raised by the left side of the aisle. I see them sit there scowling and think to myself: "This is news"?
"Fair and Balanced"? Then I get out the valium and hide in my closet and chant *The terrorists are coming, the terrorists are coming* followed by *We will not falter we will not fail* and *Thank you Ronnie! Thank You Ronnie! You shut down the Soviets! (even if their economy was collapsing and the govt. was so rife with corruption that it's a miracle it lasted as long as it did.) ![]() _____________________

Yup...Butt...Man, I can't wait till we pick one of the two (Nader is cool) morons running to be President. I'm so sick of all this lame political crap. You'd think we lived behind the Iron Curtin by the way both sides complain about each other and America.

I, too, have been taking refuge from mainstream media in Jon Stewart's The Daily Show. He had Madeleine Albright, Secretary of State under Clinton, on the show last night; I think she is one of the classiest, most intelligent women/people in government. It's a crying shame we lost her diplomatic savvy in 2000.
Stewart was asking her about her diplomatic progress in Korea, and she spoke favorably of it. However, she claimed that Korean leaders have been confused by the US's periodic change of secretaries of state. She said that Kim Jong Il said something like "Where's Madeleine?" after Bush took office and Albright was out. She also noted that the Bush administration has largely dropped most talks with Korea regarding weapons and other issues the Clinton administration made headway with. And, of course, Jon Stewart then asked Madeleine if she knew that Kim Jong Il was a marionette; it took her a minute to realize he was talking about the recent movie Team America: World Police, which she admitted to having seen. Funny stuff. _____________________

Chip, I hear ya, me too. Sometimes i am transfixed however by the rhetoric while flipping channels, usually during commercials. Insomnia doesn't help.
Beryl, I think Albright was one of the most level headed, responsible persons to have held that office. There's alot to be said when Kim is asking where she's at. _____________________

Beryl, sometimes I think that The Daily Show is the only thing that keeps me from thinking I've woken up in some strange remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
One of the things I thought was funny during the debates (in a frighteningly unfunny sort of way) was when Bush went off about Kerry's desire to have bilateral talks with North Korea. He was saying how it would destroy the process with China and Japan. The Chinese and Japanese WANT us to have bilateral talks with them. It was part of the plan all along. He's so clueless it's astounding. That so many people think Bush is the "stronger" leader when it comes to foreign affairs and "The War on Terra" just proves how well propoganda works ![]() _____________________
