Hey all.

I'm in need of someone to host a file for me. Only 14mb. It's a movie that people will be downloading, but not for long. After the 27th, I'm gonna take it down.

So if anyone is willing to give up some space on their web, it'd be appreciated and I'd give you ... something, I dunno, $L or anything like that. :p

Download a server program and host it yourself!
I would gladly host it for you but alas, I'm on the other side of the atlantic and my upstream is only 128kbit.

It's free, and it's like, the web server, period. 70% of the web is hosted by apache servers...

Oh, I just found something, HFS 1.6a. :P Kinda cool, real easy ... took 2 seconds, if you wanna see what I actually put up(and to see if it works, lol).

It sure isn't going to work with a 192.168 address. Those are unroutable addresses for private use.

Nick, it might appear to be working for you since you are on that machine. It you want to see what your ip address is as far as the rest of the world goes, trying going to whatismyip.com . If you are using an external firewall, as most dsl and cable boxes qualify as, you will need to configure it to pass packets from it's port 2954 to your windows box's port 2954.

Yes, that won't work. You probably need to change it to whatever the address given by whatismyip.com says.

Yeah, did that, but then when I try to access it, I get a 404. Anyways, I got the file hosted somewhere ... this is still gonna bug me though. :P

I use it a lot. Just make sure to copy the link and test it out after you upload, and things should go smoothly. It's nice they've finally added the comment field I've been suggesting for so long too, so you can annotate a download.

Files there expire after 7 days, so it's good timing for you.

Hey, it works for that -- just give em the link. Email yourself the link to the file, for example, and share that link with the SWG community. It should work. I don't think they've put bandwidth limiters in place or anything yet.

*DARN, amended... sorry, yeah, they do limit # of times you can download.

There's also free webhosting at:

http://www.sitesled.com/

They have quite a bit of bandwidth/month ratio; they are among the better "free providers".

http://www.tigercrossing.com isn't being used yet... So long as I don't go over 80GB bandwidth for the month, I can host it.
