How do you get help when you can't connect?

Update: Three of us in my Sim cannot login to SL. Very frustrating that we can't get help if not on-line.

I have been trying to log in this morning and the clients says "Connecting to Region..." and never returns. I can close the client as it is still responding. I've tried my brother's account with the same results. I am able to get into 1.5.8 preview, so I know my computer and connection is not the problem. The common thread is the Sim where we live: Fujin. Status page shows no problems.

How does one get help in situations like this? Especially on the weekends!

Anyone have the 800#...I know it is in the profile of at least one of the Lindens. I can't find it on the web.

see my post below.....

Good Question!
I dont know the answer but perhaps theres a telephone number for Linden Labs?

I know when I was down, I went to local library to access the internet and notify/question
help and advice on problem.

Hope this helps some.

last night the lindens were taking down sims and resetting them, prehaps they are still working on it? I'd wait an hour or so and try again, just in case.

From http://secondlife.com/support :

From: someone
Questions received during working hours will likely receive a very quick response; inquiries after hours or on the weekend might have a wait a bit longer, probably to the next business day. We also have a toll-free Billing Support line at 1-800-860-6990. If you call us after business hours, just leave a voice mail and we'll get back to you the next business day.

So that may be your best bet.

Forums and email *sometimes* work on the weekends too.

I am getting the same problem trying to log into my Sim Windermere - screen sticks on "Connecting to Region" - had a friend log into her account and she says it shows on the big map, but if you try to fly there the actual sim is gone, as well as Bowness and Hawkeshead - I got her to put in a bug report. and there are no lindens online to report to either.

Its been more than an hour I cannot log in.

Its best to only use the email for most requests. The phone number should really be used for emergencies. Where that line is drawn in anyone's guess :-) This would probably qualify as one :-) The only time I ever called was after a griefer had done some major damage to Indigo, and I knew the restore, if possible, was time sensitive.

A few things:

There are separate emails for separate issues... support@secondlife.com (this item disappeared from my inventory!), billing@secondlife.com (Why did you bill me twice for my land this month?), and so on.

If you can get in world, Liaisons are always very helpful - and normally quite nice and humorous if you get to know them.

Again, if you can get in world... Live Help rocks. (Sure, I'm biased <grin>;)

The forums usually have all kinds of threads in the General section whenever there's a major problem, and sometimes in announcements as well.

One last option: Hop onto IRC. There is a #secondlife channel on EFnet. There are normally quite a few knowledgable folks on there who would be more than willing to help you, as quite often, a Linden or two! Here's a link to a web based IRC client that connects to EFnet; pick a nickname, and after it loads, type "/join #secondlife":

http://chat.efnet.info/irc.cgi

I hope these options help you!

Regards,

-Flip

Solution to logging in prob when stuck at "Connecting to Region..."

My gf got a Linden on Help and she told me to do the following:

Start menu in Windows
Click Run
enter secondlife://Ahern/100/100

At first this did not work for me until I navagated to where SL is loaded on my system. for me it is:

C:\Programs Files\SecondLife

I even open cmd.com and navigated to that spot before it worked for me.

Once you get in change your preferences to My Last Location if your home area is the problem.

But, I am in!! :)
