Normally I don't post touchy-feely stories, but this is kinda interesting. BTW I hear elephants also have been known to mourn their dead.

youd be surprised how many animal species actually DO pay respects to dead members of their species....saw this on my grandparents farm all the time

Things like this amaze me. It's very nice of the zoo to realize that they would like a grieving time for thier loved one.

I'm not surprised. I've seen documentaries on elephants that they do the same.

I heard an account of this on the news and it brought a tear. Strange how wonderful animal behevior can be...and gorillas rule...I'd love to hunt poachers in Rwanda who kill the mountain gorillas. I'd make friggin' ashtrays out of their hands for a change.
