The 1.6 update brought a couple of modifications with it to the Email Postcard functionality. None are apparent in the UI, but both are important for different reasons.
The biggest change is that the postcards now contain location information - sim name and coordinates of where the snapshot was taken. If you send the postcard to someone, it is included as a secondlife:// link so that the person can go to that spot.
This raises a question for Snapzilla. One of the most requested new features has been being able to go to places that people see in the snapshots. This is now possible, as the location information is part of each postcard being processed. However, I imagine there are some situations where people may not always want the location of a snapshot to be known for privacy reasons.
For now, I am holding off on displaying any location information until I put some privacy features into place, though the location information is being stored. I will probably begin to show sim names so that images can be browsed by sim. The main question is, should location information be shown at all? I do think there are tremendous benefits to allowing it, as long as some privacy controls are put into place - at a minium, being able to specify when submitting a snapshot that it is private.
How do you feel about this? Since Snapzilla is ultimately a community site, I thought a change this important should have some feedback before being made.
PS - the method I am considering going with is making full location information an opt in option as part of the upcoming editing features of the site. Until you choose to have location information shown, only the sim name would be shown as part of any picture.

From: Cristiano Midnight the method I am considering going with is making full location information an opt in option as part of the upcoming editing features of the site. Until you choose to have location information shown, only the sim name would be shown as part of any picture. This makes the most sense to me. Almost all of my shots I would not mind having location upon, but I can understand there would be many who might feel otherwise and the option should be available to cull that before making them public. Thanks for thinking ahead.

Opt-in makes sense to me. The choice of a checkbox is nice enough so if someone doesn't wanna reveal their locations, they don't have to.
Keep up the fine work on Snapzilla... Mr. Cristiano you make good photos...

Hey, along with locations it would also be possible to link the latest image to a live stream so that anyone who wants can stream in the latest Snapzilla Photos.. Possibly even loading the URL of the latest entry on request.

Tough call. I'd make it opt-out, but it's good to show concern for privacy. (ahem)

How about setting up two Snapzilla email addresses: one that displays location info, and one that doesn't?

Brilliant suggestion, Liberty.

From: blaze Spinnaker Tough call. I'd make it opt-out, but it's good to show concern for privacy. (ahem) Thank you Blaze - I have no problem with you expressing concern, what I had a problem with was your statement that giving someone your IP address is like giving them your home address. It is one thing to be dilligent about privacy, it is another to unnecessarily cause alarm and paranoia.

That is also part of the plan - I have already set up private@sluniverse.com and private@slpics.com to handle it Thank you for the suggestion.

I tried sending some pics to snapzilla from SL yesterday and they never showed up. It was my first attempt at doing it but I typed in everything correctly. Was it having problems yesterday? It kinda sucks cuz I had some rather nice shots sent in

I do know there were some system problems with SL yesterday, so that may have caused it. All of the images I sent yesterday while in SL were processed. Could you tell me exactly what email address you were using? I periodically see mistakes in the email address, but I did not find any pictures from you. If you mistyped the domain name at all then it won't end up on the site. The easiest thing to use is anything@slpics.com - any email address @slpics.com will accept the images.

I sent them to pics@slpics.com. Also is there a way to send snapshots that are already taken, and not just the ones taken at the time? Thanks

CM, you could also just parse for a code, like publoc:n or publoc:y. The snapper just adds that in, you parse it out and remove it from the body. Something along those lines... Maybe just in the subject: "private Our honeymoon!" (no location and new subject is "Our honeymoon!" or "My new store!" (location published)...

I thought about doing something along those lines - the specific email address for private entries seemed easier to remember and less prone to mistakes.
