I've been playing Cory Bauhaus since I started Second Life, but I feel it's time for a change. Mostly I don't want to be one of a number of Corys, esp when there is a Cory Linden who casts a long shadow. So from now on, I'll be doing most of my SL time as Olmy Seraph.

People keep asking me about the name Olmy. It's the name of a character from some novels by Greg Bear (Eon, Infinity, Legacy). Olmy was born in a virtual world then subsequently embodied. He was an agent of the Hexamon, a pretty insanely advanced post-human civilization. That's enough about Greg Bear's stories, from now on Olmy is mine to do with as I please!

I'm keeping the Cory Bauhaus avatar indefinitely, but I won't be using him in-world much except to conclude some ongoing business.

Hey. Everyone that meets you in game will think that you are a new player now. How magical, to remember what being a new player was like. Should be fun.

Greg Bear wrote Blood Music didnt he? This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid; it demonstrates perceptual relativity.

Um, I just want to point out that I did this with Arsai Becquerel way back in the early spring of 2004. So you are all IP violators and you owe me money.

Pay up! I'm reasonable, and you will ease your troubled conscience. ;)

Yes, I'm more of a Neo-Geshel myself. I wonder what all those Naderites would think if they could see The Good Man now...

Yes. Blood Music was a great short story, and later expaned into a really spooky and disturbing novel. Greg Bear has been consistently one of my favorite SF authors for 20 years.

If you like perceptual relativity, check out Diaspora by Greg Egan.

When you belong to half a dozen (non-club) groups and are wearing a cool custom av, it's hard to convince people you're a n00b. Especially when kicking ass at Primtionary, heh. But I *am* having fun re-rating all my friends.
