After a very long stint as a victim of the tech downturn, I am finally once again a contributing member of the economic engine of America. I started today as a Field Engineer (basically, I'm the techno-geek in a sales office who is supposed to know how the stuff actually works and is used) at NextHop, a startup that provides routing software to all those companies that make the boxes that form the plumbing of the Internet.

Getting a regular paycheck again is going to be nice.

And, of course, as I wait for the plethora of documentation that I have to get my head around to download and print, I find myself wandering over to the SL forums.

Congrats Ace! I know how it feels to find something after a forced hiatus (both hubby and I got laid off after 911). Either of us had ever been out of work since we were 15 years old so it was quite a change. I went into an industry that was different than my previous experience, but connected to it and had to learn a bunch of new stuff. Actually it was (and is) enjoyable.
