A sim, I believe, is one of the named squares on the map, like my homesquare of Picnic is a sim.

A server holds the info for the sim, but is it one server per sim?

what makes one server faster, better, less laggy or whatever (I asked this as someone implied that the server was the cause of lag).

what makes up a server? a bunch of hard drives?

as far as i know (which isn't very far) a server's basically a single computer networked with others. for most sims it's 1 server/1 sim but things like void sims which are just water are 1 server/4 sims(?) and i think i heard some island sims are like that.

not sure what makes one server better than another unless it's the same as a regular computer......more ram, faster cpu etc.

yeah, I'm figuring it's something like that, and the speed of the disc drive and Ram in the computer are pretty essential, I was wondering if in the future we could pay to upgrade our own sims, say we hold an in-sim yard sale or beg neighbors for donations, maybe we could buy an extra stick of Ram for a particular sim!
