Two updates concerning the history project... 1) The history wiki has moved to a new host and thereby has a new url, as well as new software (using MediWiki now). The new address is here: http://history.secondserver.netThere are also some new slight qualifications to stuff, such as the historical locations and firsts pages, reason being: trying to limit the random kinda not really historical stuff (yes there is still some in there, which I'm thinking to leave in there for now). Not wanting either of those two things to just become a random list of stuff that becomes pointless over time. Anyone is still free to add and help out with the wiki, standard MediWiki rules apply (same thing Wikipedia uses), you don't have to register to help out, but it is of course "encouraged". I believe everything was properly transfered over, if you see something that was missed, either call my (or Eggy's) attention to it, or just add it yourself. 2) The museum has moved slightly. It is still located in Phobos and near the same spot it was, but its now on land of my own, so I can easily clean and maintain it, as well as have it in the Find - Places directory and such. Phobos (220,167) is the new location. Not much new has been added to the museum, but I am still working on articles and such to setup, things are just taking time. If you have any recomondations, comments, etc. for either of these, shout out.

EVERYONE: Come contribute information about your sim! http://history.secondserver.net/index.php/Sim_HistoriesThe Sim History section is very lacking... contribute information about your sim and preserve the rich history of it.

Hooray! I've been wondering about the history of my adopted sim (Davos) and couldn't find anything on the forums. I'll be checking back often.

From: Azazel Czukor Hooray! I've been wondering about the history of my adopted sim (Davos) and couldn't find anything on the forums. I'll be checking back often. Azazel, why not ask around and write it yourself? The thing about documenting SL history is that reality is fractal. On the surface, you could write it all down in a couple of general paragraphs about how it all started and how it has changed. But, as we dig deeper, there are so many new levels of SL that could be covered. Sim histories is something that's best left to the residents of each sim to cover, since there are so many of them now, there is no way that one or two people could document all of them. For instance, I dont even know where Davos is. I guess I should write up some mini-guide thing about how you can research and add your own contribution.

From: Oz Spade Torley you forgot Eggy! MY GOSH HOW BAD OF ME. That's like watermelon rind without heart! (Not saying anyone's rind here, geez.) :| Okay Eggy -- my apologies, I have to reason it out this way, you see... you have been so ubiquitous with SL history, with you being around so long, PLUS the "It was done in beta" quote which will forever be a history lesson unto itself in my mind. But no excuses, credit where credit is due and thanks to the Eggmeister for preserving the past of SL. You know how much I respect that? *this much*! w0000t. Eggy: It was done in beta.TIMELESS. A favorite of mine. Something I quickly learned from September onwards . . .

From what checking around I've done, it seems that there aren't any original landholders still in Davos. I'll have to double check that now that I know Davos was introduced in the snow sim land rush. Davos and its neighbor sims are part of a large mountain range that seems to divide the snow sims from the older northern sims - they are particularily beautiful IMO and I formally invite you to come sightsee one of these days If there's anyone out there that knows about the early days of Davos, I'd love to chat with you, feel free to IM me inworld.

Thanks for the update on this, Oz. I saw you inworld and asked you about the status of the history project, but I think you were busy. Glad I caught this post.
Great to see this coming along. Wonderful idea to preserve the history of this virtual world, since it's so ephemeral. I hope lots of people contribute to this effort.

Yeah, I was actualy in another window updating the wiki with some notecards I had in-world. Hehe. Didn't mean to seem rude if I did! And me too! It can only succeed if we get as many people possible contributing since SL is made up of so many different people.
