This is a bad trend and it needs to reverse.

What am I missing? Doesn't a lowered dollar give Canadians greater buying power in the US?

Yes, so good news for Wallmart. They will have record sales. I bet they're so awsome that I'll get a discount too when I'm forced to work there because everything high-tech in Canada will be too expensive. I can't wait.

It is good or bad, depending from whose point of view. If the USD is high, good for American consumers; cheap vacations, cheap imports. If it is low, bad for consumers, good for U.S. business and the trade deficit. And yes, there is fear in foreign capitals right now. Time to buy American made products made in China.

Hehe, nice Che Guevara quote. I bet he'd be pissed off if he saw what Castro did. Just a hunch.

High USD is really good for Canadians who get paid by US corporations. I don't have any stats but if it was too expensive for US companies to operate in Canada (because if the cost to pay salaries jumped by 30% becuase of the exchange rate), it would be devastating. Time to join the Army I guess.. Sigh...

Ouch. Look at the U.S. Dollar drop against the Euro.

http://www.x-rates.com/d/EUR/USD/graph120.html

I remember the old days when a dollar could buy 1.20 Euros. That's a 58% decline. When are you red-state folks going to learn how to cipher?

When will he just stop hating America?

You don't suppose the devaluation of the US dollar was a strategic move by the Fed to a) address the deficit and trade imbalance issues, and b) to counter-balance the artificial under-valuation of the Chinese currency?

It could be strategery, but I doubt it.

I think it is rampant unbridled spending.

Hehe, "strategery" -- is that a Bushism or what? :P

Yeah, spending's a part of it, but when a country has a central bank like the US does, you gotta know the Feds are pulling a lot of strings and levers to manipulate the underlying economic systems, regardless of the administration.

So who runs the Federal Reserve Banking system anyway? It's run by the government right?

Hey, and I heard somewhere your debt right now was 3.5% of your GDP. What was it during the great depression?

Oh and for the love of god, someone take this down :

Technically, yes, but in actuality, no. The Federal Reserve Board is a private corporation made up of a number of international banking conglomerates. Do some research on it. You'll be doing the Linda Blair in no time.
