Is it me, or did the asset server change cause things, especially textures, to rez much more slowly than before? I am on a 3 meg DSL connection, and have my network set to 1000 in preferences, and before things would come up relatively quickly - now I find that it is taking sometimes up to 2-3 minutes before all textures will rez. I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this. It makes flying from telehubs even more annoying that before, as builds are taking even longer to rez.

things are rezzing much much more slowly than before. i hadn't thought about it being linked to the asset server. what i observe is that i don't even know things are in my way until i can't move, then discover something rezzing in front of me a minute or two later. and yes i mean a full 60+ seconds.

What change? I thought the preview had the new asset server change, and the new asset server changes won't take effect until the preview is closed and the new client distributed.

Maybe we need a big. "take out your trash day" and tell everyone to go through their inventory and delete all the crap they dont need including those trash folders. Maybe it would help the Db performance.

They upgraded the server hardware ... um, last week was it? Not too long ago. And yeah, it does seem slower to me as well.

From: Tiger Crossing Give 1.5.6 a chance when it comes out. meanwhile just tolerate the very long rez delay and trust that it will improve with the new release. when is that release date anyway?

Maybe it would help the Db performance. Correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is that inventory is now managed primarily on the client-side, not on the server-side. At any rate, I have noticed that textures, in particular, are rezzing abysmally slow over a consistent timeframe. This seems to have become more problematic since 1.5.5.

I have only recently had this problem (extremely slow rezzing of objects and avie)... it is terribly annoying. I don't consider living with it as something the lindens should stick us up too. They should get on the double and start working with this.

The Lindens know about the asset server problems. They've built a new version with changes so far removed from what we have now they've got a bloody preview grid up. They are WORKING on solving the damn problem already. Stop whining about it and deal with a bit of slowness for now. At least you can TELEPORT these days. (Or at least I can.)

Seems to me that Cris was only trying to determine if this was a global issue, or something affecting only his client. On the positive side, a thread like this can help LL set priorities. Suggestion to LL: Any way you can enable the polling feature for non-group threads? That would allow people to register a "vote" on a topic like this without wading through a zillion posts to find a quorum.

Didn't know Marker's name was Chris. 'cuz... you know... I was QUOTING Marker. And responding to the complaint that LL was (apparently) doing nothing. Which it isn't.

He was referring to me - and I knew who you are responding to, Moleculor. I agree, they are fixing it already, no need to blast them for it - I was just curious about the sudden change.

I've had this issue also, with alot of "feels like packet loss, but its not" kind of thing going on.
Hopefully 1.5.6 will help with this.
