Nice guys! :(

p.s. ok, so I've made some cracks about my seal avatar getting abused, but to beat and burn a real seal.... for fun? What a bunch of psychopaths!

Yeah, Olympia, I was driving in to work this morning (I live in San Diego) and was livid when I heard this. Stupid SOBS. Wish I could find them, beat them and burn them myself.

Once they find out who did this, they should have thier pictures plastered on a few billboards around town.. then they'd see how they like living with the 'baby seal killer' label.

Trash. Just trash.

No...once they find out who did this they should douse them with gas....beat the living fuck out of them with baseball bats and then light them on fire.....and no....I don't think a human life is worth more and I do think that anyone that can take a life like this doesn't deserve to breathe another second. People like this should be sought out and exterminated.

I dunno what is wrong with these folks. I would guess that the way they were raised (probably in either a very hostile or a very permissive setting) instilled very little sense of morality in them.

It's amazing to me that in an age where we can chart planets around other stars, heart bypass surgery is common, computers are 1000s of times faster than they were 20 years ago, etc, etc., etc., that we still have neanderthals walking around. I hope they rot.

Maybe this is part of the problem, people are so pampered in this country that they have so much time on their hands and are so bored that they can't find anything better to do than to pick on a dying animal caught in a gillnet. (Aren't gillnets banned? I know they are here in Minnesota.) At any rate, those people should be wrapped in a a net struggling for their lives and be subjected to further abuse by some punks.

That's very sad. :( Awww.

Animal cruelty can be a precursor to human cruelty.

We have so many troubles in the world, why do some people continue to deliberately make more? All that pain and hurt. :( :(

That's true. If these creeps aren't locked up soon I bet there comes a time when abusing animals just doesn't satisfy like it used too, and they'll graduate to abusing other people.

Good question.
I'd almost like to get into their heads to see what- in their mind- makes it ok to abuse an animal (or person) because it's fun. Creepy.

They will most assuredly blame it on the drinking, just like my step-sister does when her hubby breaks things around the house or hauls off and smacks her.

There is something rotten in people like this and we need to stop making excuses for them.

Remember that that someone bright enough to chart planets, perform heart surgery and send little remote control trucks to mars is an exception to the norm. The rest of us are the pretty much apes with mange.

Well, if these folks were tormenting the seal, sure, do your worst.

Course, the "authorities" whoever that is (cops, SeaWorld?) said there was no sign of abuse other than the net. As for jabbing, well, when you check if something is alive and are a bit skittish, you poke it lightly. Also, the throwing the cell phone and keys into the ocean would be a crime, but there is nothing more on that.

If said group is guilty, sure, punish them. But at this point all the evidence is from one tourist with quick visuals suggesting she is wrong or WAY overstating it. Coruse, the bastards should have notified animal rescue immediately.

ETA: Not defending the worst of what folks are assuming of their actions, just after reading the article pointing out that there is no concrete evidence of flaying/clubbing/whatever that we normally associate with seal abuse.

Oh I am sure the part about the keys and the phone being tossed into the ocean was made up. Actually that is a signal that those idiots KNEW they were doing something wrong. But it's all made up of course, anyones natural reaction to watching another mammal die should be to not try to help it, poke it, and throw the nearest person's phone into the sea, right?

Yeah, the keys/phone thing is suspicious, though could be explained in another way if you want to stretch things. But the witness was claiming a severe beating, which the forensic evidence at this point does not support. They'll look into it more as they should, but the witness's credibility is a little strained at this point. The group is probably guilty of something, being a seal clubber is not one of them at this point for certain. A lack of compassion is suggested though.

As for poking, I don't usually put mirrors up to the mouths of possibly wounded wild animals to check if they're breathing. Course poking one is not the wisest course of action either.

Some animal rights people are freeks. Maybe they didnt do anything wrong to the animal and that person calling the law was just overreacting, since the animal didnt apear to be abused.

However, throwing someones phone and keys into the ocean is pretty frikin bad in itself even if they werent torturing the animal.

i think that the people who did this should rot in hell. They are total scum and obviously mentally deficient. Honestly, the sooner the human race becomes extinct, the better for all other life on Earth.

Net extortionists in child porn threat

Extortionists have threaten to send out images of child abuse in emails in the name of Blue Square unless the online gambling site hands over €7,000 ($8,900).

The sick telephone threat followed a five-hour distributed denial of service attack against the popular site earlier this week, the BBC reports. This DDoS attack was accompanied by an email from Serbia on Monday threatening that the assault would be intensified unless Blue Square paid €7,000 into an account. This DDoS attack was successfully thwarted only to be followed by a phone call to the firm's IT director from a man with an "East European accent" threatening to damage Blue Square's brand by distributing child porn material in its name unless money was handed over within 48 hours....
