Does anybody know of any good, turn-based strategy, built-a-galactic-empire games? Master of Orion 3 was such a disappointment that it makes me cry blood, and I'm still looking for the lung I puked up when I tried Galactic Civilizations (tiles? in space?? WTF?)... so... yeah.

At this rate, I'm gonna hafta make my own damn game. Grr. Um... how does one make video games? This is something I can do over my weekend, right? ;)

Well, for something really simple, turn based, and play by email... google for VGA Planets. It's still out there... and it's multi-player.

It's been a long time since I'd looked at VGA Planets. I recall not liking it, but I can't seem to remember why. I guess I'll hafta try it again, then. Thanks for reminding me, Siobhan. :)

MOO2 does indeed rawk, but it's a little dated now... not to mention the netcode is just this side of not being there. :D I love what MOO3 could have been... they started out in the right direction, then fired the lead designer and put the art director in his place.

No, no, you see, One and Two were great, but Three sucked the big one. Hard. And long.

It had two modes.. Super-Micro management, or Super-Macro management.. very irritating. I played it for about twenty minutes before I uninstalled.

With a couple fan-made (or homemade) tweaks, MOO3 is actually playable... but it has so little personality, it can be a lot like playing a spreadsheet.

Of course, I did find a way to have fun with the race pictures from the game. :D
