What the hell is wrong with you people?

I have posted on here seldom before, and I never shall again.

I have my piece to say, I will say it, then go. I have been lurking in these forums for weeks now, watching thread after thread get closed down because of personal attacks or flaming of some kind.

Today a good friend of mine tells me she has received a formal forum warning for a thread that was started by a friend of hers in jest - yes, they did throw insults at each other, but they, and everyone who replied in that post, knew it was a joke.

WHEREAS: the post in which they were both 'flamed' and 'personally attacked' in just a few days ago (all of you know exactly who I mean), is still open, the culprits of said flamings probably blissfully happy.

What is with the hypocrisy in these forums? When people post, they are aware of what the ramifications might be - as was my friend, and she fully accepts her warning, this isn't the issue, the issue is: is it fair for one person to receive this treatment yet not others, who are clearly just as bad, or even worse?

And yes we all know it was me that got the warning, and i fully accept it, I did the crime, and i wil ldo the time, i just do NOT accept the hypocrisy, there are lots of threads that havent been locked and/or closed and lots of issues that aren't touched with a bargepole that should be addressed immediately, but nooooooo, that would simply be too damn easy.

At the moment I am just quite saddened, angry, and a mix of emotions I cannot explain, but in the words of one wise (?) woman, no-one cares about my day, I will go away..

How do you know specifically it was that thread that caused it? The reason I ask is because, as we all know, a huge complaint remains that LL does not tell you anything of use in a TOS warning/violation email. Also, you have used the word warning - was there punishment involved, or was it simply a warning? You generally get a warning before an actual punishment. Man, I wish they worked this swiftly in other cases.

Nah was just an formal forum written email thingy ma jig, and it specifically pointed to the Psst Willow thread, and said that I personally attacked and flamed individuals, it even referred the the fact it was in jest.

That is why I am annoyed, I accept it, don't get me wrong, I am just a bit GRRR about it

Personally, I'm a touch irritated at the hypocrisy too - but then, I'm only a fecking alt (WOW am I impressed at the apologies for that one - but then, these are people who flame a good, friendly person who never did a soul any harm).

I agree with Willow Z. The only reason she is upset is because if they will shut down a joke thread tossing insults back and forth then why the hell aren't they locking a thread that was throwing personal attacks at her and a few others?? I know the reason why and I'll say it again. Forum snitches!!!! Nuff said!

hey auntie(willowZ) and mommy(willow C) THIS IS A LOAD OF BULLSHIT! what they shoulda done was ask both u and the person what was goin on and TRIED to resolve the damn thing...not give u a warning like stop flaming or personaly attacking this person...
i know they had to have some thought that u werent insulting the other person, or that person wasnt insulting you or neither of u were insulting each other...

BTW ive only been in the forums about 3 hours now...and there is a lot of name calling in here but if there is name calling they should just ask the ppl to stop, friendly and not give them a warning....

Forums are all like this. For some strange reason people feel the need to post stuff nobody cares about then a bunch of people who have nothing to do with it speak up with opinions that dont matter in the end. Not a rant, just an observation.

I come here for the info on new products or to answer questions about Second Life or to discuss hobbies and interests with like minded individuals. I just cant seem to understand why somebody would want to bring drama here. In this age of instant gratification via realtime messaging programs why come here and make a dramatic post or a flame response where your going to have to sit and wait for any sort of resolution unless your trying to get attention? Or "Trolling"?

As far as hypocrisy or fairness goes... The Linden presence is not all knowing or all seeing. What goes around comes around, call it faith call it karama...insert your own meaningless soothing phrase here.

I think they might just put a bit to much faith in our ability to act as adults somtimes.

Seriously, all I have ever tried to do is have fun, obviously this isn't everyones cuppa tea and i respect that, that is why we have the mute button, or the scroll function on our broswer, each to their own I say... Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when individuals get singled out, expect some might pissed off people..

I think the shut down and warning were likely from someone complaining, that is typically the reason any of them get shut down or locked.I feel for you and your situation. sux but at least there wasn't an unnessessary overkill responce! It wouldn't if we all did a little less flaming and a little more talking. (I know it was friendly jest)
