Asset Server Update PUH-LEEEZ Linden Crew!

Apparently the asset server is still down. I'm a patient person, things happen. No prob.

BUT:


There's still no forum thread about it. And people are still having issues. I can't save changes to scripts, or take anything I create back into my inventory.

I asked Live Help for an update, and the person that responded wasn't even AWARE of any issues. Understandably they probably thought I was insane - had to explain I spoke with Jack and Nova Linden last night about it, there have been periodic updates to those currently inworld, and that Torley was kind enough to update a thread in the forum about rezzing problems to add that there was a server issue.

So, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE LINDENS!

Take a sec to add a technical issue thread to the forums about this situation. ETA of fix would be great, but just something to alert people about the issues.

And it would be really nifty if you could let your Live Help staff know what's going on when you have such a widespread problem such as this. Especially if no Lindens are going to be inworld and on Live Help to field these questions.

Yeah, i'm working on a very complex script and this is the 5th time in a few minutes i get disconnected and loose the latest changes.

Sigh. And I was going to come inworld today and build for a few hours. Seems like everytime I get a chance to do that, something happens in San Francisco.

Think I'll go to Home Depot and buy some lumber and nails.

Yeah I got some time lately to work on projects again and I can't teleport, can't rez objects, all sorts of problems. Last night was basically a wash.

Interesting... last night everyone around me was gray, and I was the only one that appeared normal... even through thier view... and now today I hear alot of people are having troubles with scripts, yet I am working on some now, and have been for the last 2 hours, with no problem... Maybe the Lindens are tired of me yelling at them lol

I've heard from a neighbor in Aqua that she's lost some treasured items this morning by trying to put them into inventory and having them vanish into the ether instead. Use caution!

It seems to be sim specific. There was someone taking grey people for a ride out of the welcome area so they could rez.

Yup poor old Mauve sim is struggling to save any content...

But Celadon is fine.

Last night one of our squid's* spontaneously restarted itself**. Some simulators weathered that restart without any problems. Others got wedged into a state where they were unable to upload new assets. We restarted all of the wedged sims we could find last night but a few slipped through the cracks.

I've gone around and restarted all of the remaining affected sims that I could find this morning, but if you know of one that I missed please send me an IM and I'll try to fix the problem.

This is how you test to see if a sim is affected:

(1) press ALT+1 to bring up some debug stats (use ALT+1 to toggle the stats off again)

(2) if the "simulator" stats aren't open, click on the word "simulator" to open them up

(3) look for a stat called "pending uploads". If it is sitting at a non-zero value then the sim is probably suffering from this problem. It if at zero, then you need to test further...

(4) rez a box

(5) take the box

(6) watch the "pending uploads", if it goes to 1 and does not drop to zero almost immediately and the box did not show up in your inventory within a few seconds then the sim is suffering from this problem.

(7) please send me an IM with the name of the sim affected

Andrew, some girl in aqua was complaining that whatever she rezzed was disappearing and that she had lost a lot of nocopy stuff. I told her it would probably come back when you guys fixed it.
I hope I was right.

Awesome Andrew, thank you very much for the update and the tools needed to help us help you guys fix the problem.

I've noticed my home sim of Solway seems to be ok (other than the standard issues that happen, a relog fixes those) but Cordova sandbox was messing me up big time a few hours ago.

I am just wondering, I know that it says about the Sim being the problem, but I tested the sim I am in and it did just what it is supposed to, but I still cant upload textures, rarely I hit patches when I can, but for the most part I cant. Not from taking screenshots staight into game or from my hard drive. It started around the same time I see this started, I was gonna look last night but suddenly it got better and I was able to upload some. But come today and it doesnt work anymore (btw that was on 1 sim, not more than 1). sometimes it says about the Assest problem and other times it says it times out. If anyone has a clue please send it my way.
