The HIPPOs have bugs! Call the vet!
- Sometimes I get a keyword in place of the name of the person I match with
- Typing h-- anywhere in your chat text executes the "erase all keywords" function
- The HIPPO doesn't remember to stay transparent when teleporting or relogging
- It seems like there could be room for optimization =)

Why not just build your own HIPPO?
Doesn't seem to hard. Couple of scripts in a prim. One speaks on channel X -- X being a non-0 channel. One listens on chennel X, compares what it hears against a list of keywords, and then IM's you the person's name and shared interest. Just keep all the interests in a Notecard. That's probably be quicker than waiting for the Lindens to do it. Plus, Kex, with your know-how and HIPPO-related fame (I, anyway, think "Kex" when I hear "HIPPO."  , you could probably sell a bunch of these and create a new standard.Edit: Fixed channel number/variable. _____________________

As someone who pretty much always wears a hippo, I support your requests for fixes Kex! And of course if you ever did build your own, I'd be first in line to buy it! hehe..

How about integrating it into the game? Make the Interests panel on profiles useful.

I've got a crude, curde, non-working prototype in-the-works, if anyone wants it. My llGetNotecardLine() and dataserver code is way buggy, but if anyone wants a peak let me know, it's yours.

I like Cienna's idea. We could have a place in our profiles to list interests. They would be searchable through the Find window but we could optionally (optionally, dammit!) select to have HIPPO-like functionality where if we get near someone else who has opted in and who has the same interests we would be notified.
