i hear there are many movies and other streaming media online. i how ever don't know where to look or how to obtain the url of the media it self. i don't have the means or knowledge to stream my own media but i would like to be able to stream media thats out there already. i tried to get the url from some of the trailers and short films at the quicktime website but could not figure out how to get the url for the actual media.

I do a View - Source (I use Opera, but I think close in IE)..
and look for the url ending with .mov (from the page where the movie is playing) and I copy it and paste it into SL..

Yah, and for Flash files it'd generally be .SWF or something like that. Sometimes if you have a download manager, BTW, you can select an option like "grab all downloadable links" and it'll show you a list of the ones on a single page if you have that open. Then you can "catch" them... and be on your way to the golden path of more inworld theatrics!

Download Winamp, which is easy to use and see, go into "view files" from the menu, and cut and paste the numbered URL.
