Ok logged into SL for a moment when i got up this morning. Turned off the pc for a half hour.. went to go back online.. My PC would not boot??? I was like wtf. So after reinstalling my OS. The pc would not install my video card. :: panic was setting in.. need card to run SL:::

To make a long story short. It appears that my pc wiped out my BIOS drivers. Anyone know why that happens? Never happened to me before.

~Tya

FYI... seems like everything is running better now.. :/

As a disclaimer though, that shouldn't wipe BIOS as that is flash ROM

its prolly the BIOS settings and not BIOS drivers...or maybe a setting in WINDOWS. So ...you did do a clean install....??? you never got it to boot ? so you ran back up disk? start up in safe mode?....or are you saying you lost everything? or what? what are you saying...lol...

maybe check battery....is it going low? maybe bug.....could you get nothing when turning on computer...coulda tried pf8 and start in safe mode....dayyumm..could guess all day. is your computer running hot?....have you checked temp in dos?

I find tossing the computer on the sidewalk and buying a new one works really well.

LOL i was having a shit fit this morning (6am) It would not boot up..I could only go into the BIOS. The pc would auto shut off on me after going through the system start blah blah.I ended up reinstalling WinXP over the old one... dont say it. To see if that worked and booted from the CD. Then I got check everything and my video card was gone and my monitor drivers. I am thinking wtf...I noticed when I rebooted I was getting a message something about controller not found.. :/. I decided as a test to reinstall my BIOS drivers.
Rebooted then the pc recognized my vidoe card (AGP slot) yay i said.

Took a deep breath and reformatted the hard drive. I thought maybe my graphics card was defunked. After I reformatted and reinstalled WinXP. I installed SL . .first thing .. omg.. thats sad, to see if it worked.. Anything I dont care :P

So now to spend the day reinstalling all my programs :(

I have had so many problems in the past with drivers going bad etc, what I have done is put all of my current drivers in their own subdirectories on my C drive, as well as backed them up onto a single CD ROM. So basically I have a folder in my C that looks like this:

C:\DRIVERS - DO NOT DELETE!
L ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 driver
L Viewsonic G90F Monitor driver
L ASUS Motherboard drivers
L Soundcard driver
L blah blah blah etc....

Good luck!!!

This may be an overly simplistic question, but have you checked to make sure that the graphics card is properly seated into the AGP slot on the motherboard? Are the cable connections snugly seated, as well?
