I have a question....

A few nights a ago I was working on my gas station in Chong and selected most of the items, went to lift it up and all of a sudden my screen jumped and I actually had about four copies of the gas station. I had to delete every single piece of the copies which took a bit but it wasn't bad. Just wondering if anyone would know what caused that and if it's happened before to others?

Thanks

Not sure. Holding the Shift key while dragging, as in lifting, makes a copy of what your moving. If you had shift pressed and you paused a couple of times on the way up, that would cause you to have multiple copies.

Thanks for the reply Loki.

That could have happened because I was using the camera views to get a good look at my project.

ahkenatan, this is tangential but related: i saw parts of your gas station in the Morris sandbox, i believe. i really like how it's coming along, classic cars and all. before my time i have heard of a classic gas station in Blue in the Americana theme, and have heard a number of fond stories related to that. i was not around for that first time but i do hope that maybe some "oldbies" see your work and emotion shows. keep it up. :)

Thanks for the kind words Torley!

I actually have a nearly complete replica of the gas station in chong.

I must point out that the little maroon car was someone elses' work. The car with the fins was my baby. I've heard of Americana but I haven't seen it yet. Too busy building.

I would love to purchase a nice chunk of land and setup a nice early-mid twentieth century town. The possibilities seem limitless to me.

I've never seen a anything like second life, the tools are so easy to use yet what can be done with them is staggering. I've only started to scratch the surface!

And you won't. Americana started to die during the great revolt of '03. By early '04 there was hardly anything left. Now, I doubt there are two prims left standing. It's a shame really, SL needs quality builds.

Barring some unfortunate mishap... holding down the shift key and pausing will not create multiple copies of an object. You'd have to release the shift key and press it again to get an addition copy (I use this feature lots and lots). At least, that's the way it's -supposed- to work.

Americana was completely deleted when we switched to 1.1 and got a new, non-exploitable taxing system. The only build left standing was mine, because my computer had broken down. It was supposed to be a replica of the MGM Grand casino. I took it down shortly before 1.2 though.

So it would seem there isn't anyplace left like that. That is a shame. However that could be good for me! I'm seriously considering setting up a nice little old fashioned town. I'm from New England so I know of many small towns which I can draw inspiration from.

Hmmmm...looks like I'll be shopping for more land soon.... :)

Who headed up the Americana project? I seem to recall hearing the AVs name was GW Bush or something like that... what has happened to him?

A small Vermont mountain village or a sea port like Marblehead would be great! I hope you proceed :)
