Just the usual IRC channel downtime bump:

EFnet / #secondlife

If you do not have an IRC client, you can use:
chat.efnet.org - Web Based Client (good for people at work)

Windows:
Mirc - www.mirc.co.uk
XChat - www.xchat.org

Linux:
XChat - www.xchat.org

Mac:
XChat - www.xchat.org

Additionally, if you have mozilla installed (the full mozilla), you can try following this link:
irc://irc.efnet.net/secondlife

You can also use www.sluniverse.com/chat/ to access the same IRC channel through a browser.

Come join the party! Mac users may want to try this cool client called Snak.

I've noticed that some of the commercial heavy-duty filtering proxies will filter anything with 'mail' or 'chat' or 'forums' in the domain or URL...

Does anyone have a "proxy-safe" URL? :D

I made a copy of the page and put it here:

Will that help?

My bad... didn't realize it was a Java applet.

I could at least get to the link, but the applet uses port 6667 (obviously) and the work firewall blocks that.

Thank you anyway, sorry for your troubles. Might help some other people though.

Look for an open CGI:IRC site (one that lets you enter your own server address).

Type "CGI:IRC Login" into Google, and just go through the sites till you find one :)

Thanks for the responses. Will look further into CGI:IRC.

I'd gander that URLs with "efnet" in them would probably get filtered out too. Beastly proxy at work ;)

But if gmail.google.com works where www.gmail.com won't, must be a way to dodge the proxy :D
