I dunno if I'm a "fan" but I like some Ska songs. My tastes are very picky, so like any other catagory of music I don't like all of them, but I do like some of the songs I've heard.

I dont mind ska. very choosy about the type of ska though.
Theres a local band here who I enjoy the music of, but I dont like any of the heavier rocky sorts of ska... if that makes sense ![]() |

Yeah, I fall into that "some ska" category, too. Mostly older stuff, but then again, I am mostly older.

I liked that song "date rape story." (no idea who plays it).
Its a catchy, dark, sordid tale with a good ending. |

Hummm....
I think of Madness when I think of Ska, but I was in high school at the time ![]() Interesting that it's becoming popular again Lumi _____________________

I never really thought of Sublime when I think ska..
More like The Specials, Hepcat, The Toasters, Skatalites, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dance Hall Crashers just to pull a few from the ol' iPod. _____________________

Ska, ska ska!
Got a pretty good collection spanning the 1970s-present. More into the standard older stuff (Selector, Special A.K.A.) but like some of the newer stuff and ska variants too (Operation Ivy, Hepcat, The Gadjits) _____________________

The very first concert I ever went to was English Beat. I love The Specials and Madness too.

Yep.
I'm especially fond of Fishbone. I still consider them ska, even though their music ranges all the way into non-religious gospel. Also a fan of Madness, The Specials, Less Than Jake, The Jam.. Something about that ska beat makes me bounce, and bouncing is nice. ![]() Went to see Ednaswap down in LA a few years ago, and the two opening acts supposed to be local unknowns. First band was so-so, second band turned out to be Fishbone doing a sneak attack concert. People were bouncing and jumping so much I thought the building was going to come down. It was great. Never been to another concert with so much energy before or since. Party at Ground Zero! _____________________

Yes! Even though it's kind of out of style at the moment, I still love it. I could listen to the first Dance Hall Crashers disc until it melts. I'm still discovering ska bands I haven't heard before, like Mobtown.
I like the [Toasters, Specials, Op Ivy, DHC, Mobtown, Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, Isaac Green & the Skalars, Bim Skala Bim, Catch 22 (Keasby Nights is good, went downhill after the singer left), Highball Holiday, Let's Go Bowling, Skatalites, and others I can't think of. |
