What's the most desturbing thing that's ever happened to you or someone you know? No, besides me.

Anywho. Freaky things, funky things, stories about who got pregnant, who's really a man, how you lost your virginity... ANYTHING, just post 'em here!

Well my old boyfriend's old girlfriend, who he broke up with to be with me, had been kidnapped and tortured for three years. In one instance, her kidnapper gave her a puppy, a cute loving friendly little puppy. Then one day, the puppy died. Soon after that, her kidnapper fed her a pie, and when she ate some of the pie, she found something inside... The puppy's collar!

Well that's the most disturbing thing I've ever heard, anyway.

From back in my service days..
Staying 3 nights in Jakarta on route to Bali we decided to try the local cuisine.. rather than learn some of the local language as two of us had done - ordering rendang and nasi goreng (A lamb stew with fried rice) - our companion decided to order the only english sounding menu item:

"Torpedo"

He was served a long hearty bit of meat swimming in a thin broth.. which he eat rather quickly -- commenting on its exotic taste and texture...

3 days of Jakarta, and for him 3 'Torpedos' -- for dinner each night.

On arriving in Bali he went to a local restaraunt and tried to order his new fave dish, only to be told they 'would never serve that here' -- when he asked why not, he was told what 'Torpedo' was.

Goats Penis Soup.

True Story.

I slept walked off a cliff. I was camping and asleep for the night. Next thing I know, I wake up floundering around in the lake with a huge gash on my head, bruised and battered left leg, and a completely shattered right wrist.

Okay, here's an incredibly freaky thing I learned in college recently :D that doesn't involve me, but it's a documented story about a woman who underwent anaesthetics during surgery.

As my professor described, anaesthetics do three things, and these three things alone:
1. Put you to sleep
2. Make you forget what happens during this sleep
3. Paralyze your body

One woman only had #3 working for her. So, throughout her surgery, she could feel and recognize while being fully awake the entire process she was undertaking. But, she had no way of communicating this to the doctor with the scalpel. The only reason why the surgery came to a halt was because, in fear, the woman's heart was beating so fast that she was starting to have a heart attack.

Did she feel pain, or just the sensation of being operated on?

This is a very true story, I saw it on Dateline! :D

She felt everything, heard everything -- even the comment from a nurse how this patient should lose some weight. She remembers the music they played during the operation, everything. That story has made me NEVER want to go under general anestisia(sp?).

Ok..want disturbing or just something that sticks with you?..Well when I was 17..I read a newspaper article about this bus load of children in Washington that were all killed by a log slipping off a logging truck on a hill and crashed through the bus decapitating almost all the children.. That story shocked me so badly that I have a phobia of being behind trucks caring anything that could slam through the front window of your car. Even to the point that I slow down and let trucks caring anything that looks dangerous get far ahead..I even went to a therapist about it, but he said that some people become so shocked by something like an article that it becomes hard wired and cannot be changed. but even know thinking about those kids, who by now would have families maybe of their own, all died such a terrible, terrible death. That is what I call a disturbing story.

peace,
Soren

My soccer team was returning from a game when our plane crashed in the Andes mountains. We were freezing and hungry, with little hope of rescue. We got sooo hungry that we finally broke down and started eating the dead. Then one day...uhm, wait that was a movie. Never mind.

Oh! Wait! I remember. We and the Donners were in a wagon train heading west across the Rockies when...

True story:

About 15 years ago, my fiance (we'd been together for around 6 months or so, and engaged for another month) slept with a guy I knew. I found out through a friend, ended the relationship, and, as most people would, wished that guy was dead.

I'm not the type to start anything, I just felt bitter and wished bad things on that guy whenever I thought about the whole thing.

Anyway, two weeks later he was hit by a bus and killed instantly.

I think thats the most depressed I've been - way, way, worse than the 'been cheated on' depression. A bit of counselling and a year of celibacy and I was 'me' again.

The girl? I never spoke to her again. She ended up being run out of town from what I heard (use your imagination). I've never been anywhere close to being engaged since.

Please, don't give me any pity... the water is well and truly under the bridge.

So, we find out that when Devlin has "Elbow Licker" next to his name, it isn't a joke. BTW, if anyone hasn't seen the movie "Ravenous" I highly recommend it.

I remember back in the early thirties, we were up in the Yukon panning for gold and it was so cold that when we spoke, ice cubes came out of our mouth and fell on the ground. We had to fry them up in a frying pan just to hear what we were saying.

Victory will be mine!

A friend of mine was sent to a place like this, in Utah, which is still running, in Utah.

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/magazine/story/0,11913,987172,00.html?=rss

There's actually over 20 of these places known in the U.S. which are still running.

In the U.S.

Not in Jamaica, or some other country where they can 'get away with it'

Because they can. And they do.
