This came as a gift to me today from my very Republican brother. (My mother is so ashamed!) But it's priceless!

Here is a favorite already:

The Unknown:

As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know we don't know.

Really. Buy this book. I mean it.

BTW

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Actually there is some wisdom in that. If you've ever listened to the Pentagon press conference (once a day I think). They either degenerate into humor (which this sounds like) or some reporters asking the same question over and over (changing the wording a little each time) to try and get him to reveal something he has no intention of revealing...

Q: Will we start the bombing before the 18th?
A: I can't comment on that.
Q: Um, if we were to start the bombing, would the number on your calendar be 18 or greater?
A: I can't comment on that.
Q: Suppose that today were the 18th. Would we have started the bombing already?

Somewhere around then he loses it and starts lecturing them. It never does any good though. Sometimes I think half the reporters in the room are members of the Taliban. Either that or 4th graders.

The irony is that whoever is president (but especially Bush) will get blamed for infringing on our rights for trying to track terrorism in this country. I'm already to the point where I won't get on an airplane unless it's more than a 10 hour drive or so. But no matter how much, or how little they do, when the next strike occurs (and it almost certainly will) the same people will ask why more wasn't done to stop it.

I live in the DC area. They have toxic levels of lead in the drinking water, and they don't even know for how long that's been going on. They take their sweet time about fixing the problem and nobody has even been fired over it. They had an electrical fire in the subway the other day for which they were totally unprepared. Officials admitted they have no plan to deal with emergencies like that, and again, nobody gets fired. I really don't think most people know how poorly run the big cities in this country are (but DC is doo doo AFAIAC). I look forward to being out of this area sometime this year. Won't be soon enough for me. We don't even NEED terrorism for this to be a very dangerous place. Once you seen one big white marble building you've seen them all.

This one's been around for a while but it's hilarious if you haven't seen it. A collection of Bush quotes arranged for aesthetics by Washington Post writer Richard Thompson...

MAKE THE PIE HIGHER

I think we all agree, the past is over. This is
still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty And potential mental losses. Rarely is the question asked Is our children learning? Will the highways of the Internet Become more few? How many hands have I shaked? They misunderestimate me. I am a pitbull on the
pantleg of opportunity. I know that the human being And the fish can coexist. Families is where our nation finds hope, Where our wings take dream. Put food on your family! Knock down the tollbooth! Vulcanize society! Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!
