LOL. I guess the lesson there is never stand between a walmart shopper and their cheap dvd player. I can't believe they didn't give her a free one! Walmart is the devil.

"Ellzey said Wal-Mart officials called later Friday to ask about her sister, and the store apologized and offered to put a DVD player on hold for her."

LOL, no joke - how insulting that must feel....'oh we'll put one on hold for you....' after letting you get trampled by mass consumerism.

what ever happened to 'Buy Nothing Day'?

In another forum that I frequent, someone asked 'where were the walmart associates?'

Trust me. Trying to push several TONS of humanity that is going in the direction that you are not is not only useless, but highly dangerous to all.

And yeah, wally world should have given her the DVD player. That's just cold.

I did one of those "early bird specials" ONCE, two years ago. Me and another guy ended up passing out the entire stock of the TVs that we were after as a public service, and to avoid being trampled outselves. ironicly, the person I bought it for had difficulty getting it in their car, and I ended up with a cold after waiting at 4 in the morning for the store to open. (Yes, it get's cold here in Arizona.) I'm never doing it again.

It's not Wal-Mart's fault that there are psychotic shoppers. They should have gotten all the foot prints off of her back, found the people that made them, and forced THEM to buy her a non-$29 DVD player. Eh... maybe I'm evil, but I'm slightly amused by such things. Anyway, I think that people suck a lot. Strangely, my Gamecube line was much nicer... of course they gave us numbers while we waited in line...

This whole Wal-Mart incident sounds like a Lewis Black routine. Forget Starbucks across from another Starbucks, THIS is the end of the world.

Actually it is Walmarts fault for not policing the crowd correctly or managing the people. I have seen early morning frenzies that went well - people lined up in single file outside the store before it opened, were let 1 at a time in the store slowly, and kicked out if they were reckless (ie running or pushing). There is absolutly no reason for this to happen at any place that has control over their store. That the walmart didn't provide the security and personel needed to handle this is entirely their fault, this isn't the first morning frenzy sale they have done and it won't be their last. They know what to expect or should and they can be expected to predict what will happen enough to prevent someone from getting trampled.

Aside from any humanitarian or moral reason why they should give her the cheap DVD player, the wal-mart lawyers should be advising walmart to give her a top of the line DVD and surround sound home entertainment system just to keep her from suing them.
