By my calculations, isn't today the day when massive immigration starts? Do we know where from yet? LF

Slashdot would be my guess - that's how I got here.
SL's got some good press on there recently, and many of the user comments on /. appear to be quite positive.
Some from SL forum regulars, I've noticed... good to see continuing crossover.

From: someone Originally posted by Hawk Statosky Slashdot would be my guess - that's how I got here. Combo of Slashdot and some mmorpg site for me. And I feel silly for not being here sooner. I always preferred MUSEs over MUDs, yet I still kept looking at Everquest type games. Whoopsies.

Rumor has it that SL is scheduled to get a mention in some publication (that has a HUGE number of readers) that comes out today...
Can anybody confirm or deny this?

I'm told that it's a mailing list. I'm not sure of the specifics.

Maybe it's a hand shaped crop circle, planned by the Lindens...

I came from Slashdot, and I really wish I heard of SL earlier. I have played EQ and AO and quite a few MUDs over the years, and SL is the friendliest online place I have ever visited. I just subscribed and hope to be around for awhile. Also good to see another Monroe county MI resident I'm from Bedford.

Can anybody confirm or deny this? Not an actual confirmation, but I'd heard of an article in Newsweek as well as the slashdot posting, (which has a huge readership of tech people as well.)

The slashdot mention already happened, about the IP rights of player-createcd content.
But, with the time being stretched back to 7 PM, I hope no one tries to log in today...
Someone put a sign that says "SL Down For Maintenance" on the front page, ASAP!
