Do you know that they figured out what causes spontaneous combustion?

It's not a martian raygun (which I sell if you are interested) or a burst of devil flame. It's actually a long slow burn, like a candle. Someone catches fire and the fat in their body causes a long slow burn which heats all the other tasty parts and bones to a point where they burn, but like a candle burns down and then out, nothing around it catches fire. It's been reproduced in scientific arenas.

See what watching the educational channels get you?

Er, wait. I thought the point of spontaneous combustion was that there *weren't* any sources of flame nearby?

(this, children, is why you should never smoke in bed. You never know when you'll turn into a toasty critter to shock and awe future generations)

heh... when I was a kid, I feared spontanious human combustion happened when you thought too hard.

Maybe that's why I didn't do so well at school :D

Edit: hehe...my mis-spelling of 'spontaneous' proves it lmao

Those who combust, as the theory goes, are most times elderly and are usually smoking and fall asleep, or fall and break a hip, making escape impossible. So the source of the flame is turned to smoke and maybe some ashes, but not enough to be found by the coroner.

Darwin, you go all over the forums correcting spelling and grammar, so I thought I'd return the favor.

The word is "spontaneous".

My favorite musical group is The Fabulous Spontanes, which is composed of whoever shows up at the local jazz club to jam together. :p

BTW, the other word is "disappeared". :D
