Noticed the last two upgrades that when I went to the trouble of downloading the latest version in order to be ready when the grid came back up, that the system did not recognize that I had already upgraded, forcing me to download the whole blinkin thing again!
What is with that?

And could you please fix it, Lindens?

That is because you used the auto-updater, which downloaded an old version. The best bet is to download directly from the website when an update is in progress -- or wait until the grid is back online, since that's the point when you can be assured that the auto-updater is giving you the right version.

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

Actually, no. I DLed the one off the web site and it, too, needed another update before I could log in.
I don't mind it so much, but it HAS to be a big pain for people on metered bandwidth. :(

I downloaded the version listed on the Download page. But there is obviously a flag set when downoading after an old version is detected andt indicates that the download was performed when requested. this flag should also be et when the reglar version is installed to avoid the problem

Actually, no. They made a change. We had downloaded 1.6.6(4), they ended up using 1.6.6(5). And I'm disappointed, one more build and it could have been 1.6.6(6). :p
