How much *is* a Lifetime alotment of 4096m2 worth now? And is it at all desirable?

My headline speaks it all. I'm asking this out of curiosity?

As a lifer, having 4096m is desirable as... well having tier. Or, according to the tier rates it is worth US$25/month. Unless I missed that LL has started selling lifetime accounts again, is this not a moot point?

Well, a Lifetime Account (Pre 1.2) is equivalent to...
  1. Premium Account, worth about US$6.00 - 9.95 a month. (depending on your commitment)
  2. 4096sqm Land Tier, worth about US$25.00 a month.

So the US$225.00 paid to Linden Lab back when it was young for a Lifetime Account, is worth anywhere from US$31.00 to US$34.95 a month now. That was the reward for betting SL to win! :)

No, they are no longer available. They stopped selling them with the release of Version 1.2. Linden Lab still gives them away as prizes for certain contests and promotions, like the Vive La Evolucion campaign.

They are worth nothing because it is against the TOS to buy/sell/trade accounts! :D

Really wish I had heard of SL back when it was beta/beginning... instead, it was Star Wars Galaxies that grabbed me. Ah well, if wishes were fishes we'd walk on the sea.

I'm actually asking, "How much would a Lifetime account sell for?" not in terms of monthly fee

Probably about $US 500 or so.

Nevertheless, you can't sell them anyway. :)

If anyone wants to donate their tier to me, though, due to them quitting, I'd be more than happy to manage the tier for you (until you come back, of course) :)

I guess they are desirable if your happy with 4096m2 of land, or a half price 8192m2, but it becomes less and less useful as you progress up the tier ladder.

The Vorago basically sits on my 4096. After settling there, I bumped up my land tier one notch (so beyond free, which actually isn't free, they charge you some service fee of like 5 bucks a months even though you are supposed to be totally gratis), and if I recall, had to pay 25 bucks a months right away. Land tier pricing is absolute, not relative I guess, so if you had a sim for free, and acquired one more meter of land, you would pay the sim+1 meter land fee (which would take you from free to what, 140 a month or whatever it is, for that 1 meter).

So in a way, unless you ONLY have the 4096, it really makes no difference. It's a nice chunk to have but believe me it's not like it's saving me tons of money or making me rich.

I'm not sure of this of course as I've never really actually run the numbers, but I own VERY little land beyond my 4096 (the land in excess would not exceed the first tier pricing), and am paying at least a tier two or three fee.

The whole free forever thing was basically a wash as soon as they started the new prim/land system. Even when I only owned the 4096 in the first place I set up the Vorago I was paying a monthly fee for...well, I never got an answer to the mail I sent LL. Surprise surprise.

After 9 months it pays for itself. Then it's a free 4096 for as long as SL is alive, which I see as a great value for those who plan to ride it out. Even if it's not as much land as one desires, being given the 4th tier free indefinately is very desirable, at least in my eyes. I doubt even a baron would mind having that. Free is free.

Actually Hank, they've stopped the Vive La Evolution campaign.
