Just got back from the State of Play conference.

I was very lucky to be able to hang out a long time with Philip, Corey, Catherine, Robin, Hamlet, and Ian. All the fantastic people at Linden Lab directly responsible for the future of SL.
Quite simply....they rock. They are brilliant. They have an amazing vision. They care deeply in their hearts about SL and the future of it. They are working their collective butts off to make SL better and better. And they know how to party.
So...I just wanted to say publically....I feel the love. The love for SL and the love for a vision of a new world where the users truly drive the evolution of it all.
Feels good. Very good.

Here's a question: was anyone other than the LL team discussing anything particularly interesting? Last years was excellent. Particularly the guy from Microsoft's Virtual World's group. (who did some amazing work around the time AW was starting off.)

Yes, I got one of those leather notebooks. It's great...love the smell of RICH CORINTHIAN LEATHER.
We were passing it around one evening while out on the town. Everyone was writing random crazy thoughts in it. I got wonderful quotes from everyone as the night progressed and everyone got...more uninhibited.  As for talks on cool new tech...to be honest, the best tech talk I saw was by Randy Farmer at the Museum of Moving Images. http://web.stream57.com/nylaw/102904_virtualworlddemo0006.htm He talked about the long history of virtual worlds. It's amazing how far we've come...yet everything today is truly built on the shoulders of people like Randy who pioneered key concepts in the past. Very inspiring. _____________________
