I'm seeing almost 60 events, and quite a few of them are still club contests.

What is Tringo? You gotta be kidding...right? np. You need to check it out. It is indeed a fun little game. A little hard to pick up. But once you understand how to play, its a blast. _____________________

I don't mind Tringo games being on the event listing. They're not educational, so they don't get financing, which means that they must be popular enough to survive on their own. Obviously "Sexiey Avies" contests weren't, so they're dying out.

What is Tringo? Tringo is a combination of Tetris and Bingo. Two games in one, thats why it got the name Tringo! ummm NM _____________________

I don't get the Bingo thing at all.....I mean I can't see anyone actually wanting to go play bingo in real life much less second life...But hey....more power to em. A great event idea and people seem to love it.

A great event idea and people seem to love it. lol, me neither, but it appears people sure like it! I just found it always to be, well, too simple ![]() Why see so many of these events? Because people want it. If these bingo/tringo events had no one attending them, then they'd drop to the wayside, and one might see the occasional event, but not in these numbers. For myself at Spittoonie, this draws unprecidented numbers to come and play for 3+ hours per day. I saw the value of Bingo early on when there may have been 3 bingos per day maximum, I introduced it apon a request from my events staff, and since then have not looked back. Until the next big craze, me thinks we'll see them for a long time. For the most part, they seem to be self suffecient, and with the recent cutbacks on support payements, only the truely sucessful ones will remain. These bingo events were always there, they were just always getting lost between "Sexiest AV Contest at Club Bozo" and "Sexiest AV Contest on my front porch" events ![]() _____________________

Hint: One's instinct is to put the x shaped peice in the middle. Never do that. ![]() I expect people will eventualy get tired of Tringo and the fad will cool down a bit...but it is a fun game. Immitation may be the scincerest form of flattery, but when everyone is flattering you (malls, clubs, bingo, tringo), it can get annoying. |

They're called "trends"...
01-19-2005 14:52
Trends folks - that's what its about. And don't delude yourselves into thinking this is unusual... Its part of our real-life culture! Its just branded & commercialized more in RL - take Reebok vs. Nike throughout the years. Who needs pump-up shoes? No one; but they were a damn hot trend for awhile!
I could give thousands of examples - going back to Howdy-Doody and beyond. Actually, I find it a nice indicator that SL has a living culture that reacts and changes when innovations & new products come along. Take care, --Noel "HB" Wade (Tread Whiplash) ...Who has yet to play Tringo (because he's working on his own little game); but is itching to try Tringo soon! |
