Hey-
I love using the island sandbox since I don't own land yet, and because you tend to see some interesting things and people there.
Lately, though, its been getting kind of tough. People have been rezzing 20 or 30 copies of an object and just leaving them around. Or taking the opportunity to work on a build that occupies the entirety of a single sim. Or using ring and shapemaker to build 2 mile high, 800 prim spheres and then just leaving them there to sit until the sandbox is cleaned 12 hours later.
Please clean up after yourselves. Youre not the only ones using the sandbox.
Also, please save your rationalizations for someone who wants to waste their time listening to them. I am aware of special circumstances, and this comment is not directed at those experiencing them.
Thanks, Ivan

Personally, I would love a "Sandbox Cleanup by Avatar Location" - where a wipe of the person's prims is called roughly five minutes after leaving the sandbox region. That said, let me know if you start seeing more complex shapes than rings or spheres rezzed from prims in the sandbox. If I catch 'em abusing my importer (though I did gimp certain "features" of it for a reason), I'll add a Temporary On Rez "feature" to the script here and let people figure it out.

I hate this also.. Except.. If there not in the sim for say 30 minuted there items get returned. (or at least make them return every 12 hours, maybe ppl wont leave a billion prims laying around if its goes into there inventory!.. lol)

I thought from the title the poster was trying to equate sandboxes with litterboxes.
After rereading I guess my original conclusion was right.

Sanbox should just clean up every 4 hours. A lot of people just take up residence in the Sanboxes.

Actually Ivan I endorse this for people who use it.
I think maybe to use the sand box the theory that if the owner doesnt return in 15 mins IE a boot that kicked them from the sim. Their Items should be return to inventory.
But thats just my opinion.

there is NOTHING wrong with working on high prim projects in the sandbox, that is one of their uses.
The number of prims is not what causes lag as long as they aren't scripted or physical.
Remember this before abuse reporting a creative builder that has used a few thousand prims to make something really detailed.
Abuse reports should not be used to stifle creativity.

Too many cats sharing the same litterbox? Yeah, it can't really be expected that they'll clean up after themselves. Some folks have been able to train their cats to use the toilet and to flush afterwards, but many simply will not listen.
Your choices are to clean the box more often or to put out more boxes.
You can also try ringing up your neighborhood Liaison and have them do a wipe.

Theres also a fourth option - make a post in the general forum and hope that it will cause at least one or two people to be more considerate in the future. Even if it is against our nature to consider other people when deciding our own needs. Thanks- Ivan

It's interesting for me to read this thread and know several of the motivations for why (I'm generalizing) people post the things they do: for example, one may have a friend who is a skilled architect of high-yield builds involving many prims, or another may have been constantly disturbed by such creations. So: conflicts, conflicts. My personal experiences: I can be a gross abuser of sandboxes, but do it considerately. There have been times where I've rezzed 5,000 watermelons on the Island Sandbox, say -- all physical -- or even 14,000 prims of Fleabilt trees. I get a big kick out of it, but the thing for me is checking to see if anyone's around, and if someone is, I inform them about my experiments and whether it's okay to proceed. Common courtesy... and when I am in doubt, I ask. I do NOT want my creative expression to stifle someone else's. Following such massness, I will take snapshots and then derez allstuffs quickly to free it up for the next person who wishes to use this public arena of primosity. That's just the tangential Torley-thoughtline take on things though. And right now, I'm listening to Porterhouse... a track called "Sandbox", aptly enough!!

Thanks for the smiles and the upbeat point of view Torley. As I've said, real life is really harshing my mellow right now. I apologize to anyone I've snapped at.
