Sad and upset

Hi,

First of all this will probebly sound strange etc. since it´s hard to explain in english, but I just have to write this and vent.

I am rather new to SL and have tryed to find a way to sell something easy until I know how to build things or design.
So I made some paintings of photos.
Yesterday someone bought 4 paitings so I was so happy. BUT.....today I found out that this person simply has took the rest of the painting by edit them!!! (total painting was 9)

Of course it´s my fault since I didn´t check closely how to edit them. But...for me this feels terrible! I have rented a place to sell them, and now I cannot even take them down.

I hope someone can understand this, I am just so very sad right now.

It sounds like what might have happened is when you put them up for sale, you checked "Original" instead of "Copy" by mistake under the sale options. That's why the ones you had up for sale belong to him now. Very likely, he doesn't even know those are his and are wondering where the paintings he bought are. I would send him an IM, it's probably an honest mistake... I know I've done similar things, on both sides of the vendor/customer equation.

Sorry to hear this happened to you hun. There should be no way they could take the ownership of them without buying them though.

IF you set them to sell original, then they get the only copy but it doesn't move.
IF you made a mistake with edit permissions that let them copy, you should still have the originals.

If you like, call me when I'm in world and I'll take a look and see if I can work out what might have happened. A better idea though, would be to ask a Linden. Jack or Nigel should be around now if you send them an IM.

Well, this is probebly all my fault, since I put the settings in a wrong way. I was just so shocked when I got there and saw that someone else owned several of the paitings.
The owner of the spot I rented, comed online and she was so very nice. She return the paitings to the "owner", so at least they are gone.
I have learned in the hard way, but at least it was not so bad as I thought.

I'm glad you got it sorted out, and I hope you were able to find out what you'd set wrong.

On the brighter side, it's a lesson you won't soon forget. Better it happen now when you're starting out than later when you have 30 or 40 paintings for sale at several hundred L$ each.

My first store in Second Life was an art store also.

My problem was that I built my store on public land (which was everywhere back then) and it 'degraded' to public ownership, which sucked

But you may want to put the word SAMPLE across the pics for viewing- else someone might just copy them off and save them from the browser.
