Tomorrow night (Monday) MTV will be running a Choose or Lose special at 11 PM focusing on Bush and Kerry's position on the War on [Some] Drugs.
I contend that pulling back on this useless "war" would solve a good majority of the US's financial issues.
Anyway, seems like a lot of us are interested in politics and/or drug policy so you might want to check it out.

Isn't it embarassing when you have to *bump* your own thread?

The only "sensible" approach to the War on Drugs is to realize its unwinnable, and give up the fight. But saying so would be political suicide for a candidate to any office other than Mayor of Berkeley, CA, so the charade continues.

This should be an interesting show. Really though, neither one of these monkeys has the guts to abolish prohibition.
Hey hey! Ho ho! The War On (some) Drugs as got to go!!

Dan, www.pot-tv.net will almost definitely have a streaming version of it within a couple of days. I would once again like to vote for the Libertarian candidate, but I don't want that symbolic vote to bite me in the ass like the last one. Bush has already stated that we need to pour more time, money and energy into the drug war, if we expect to "win it" This pretty much guarantees my vote for Kerry, as it would be a vote against Bush. Kerry actually helped write a bill to allow a university at one of the "M" states (michigan?) to grow marijuana of high THC content and quality to test scientifically for medical usefulness. The problem with trying to do those studies so far is 1) getting approval 2) getting the marijuana from the West Virginia(?) site where it's grown. Further complicating matters is the fact that the government grown marijuana is of the lowest possible quality possible. It's been widely know in the Med marijuana community that medical marijuana needs to be of the highest quality. Yes, Kerry currently can't come out and say he is for decrim, but he does say that he will have a scientific committee look into the medical usefulness of the high quality stuff grown in the new program. I think, that unlike every president before him, each of whom commisioned scientific studies on marijuana, he'll actually read, understand, and follow the advice of the report. btw, each of those independent scientific studies before now have all determined that the biggest effects of marijuana are sleepiness, euphoria, and increased appetite. The only legitimate and significant danger they have found for marijuana is that it is illegal and being arrested can ruin one's life. The presidents before now have all looked at the commisioned studies, thrown them in the trash (Nixon literally did this in a fit of rage) and then proceeded as if given the exact opposite data. If you support legalisation/decrim, then know that it'll have no chance under Bush. . . and at the very least, will be considered for the millions that could have medical conditions alleviated under Kerry. Anyway, look at me going on and on. . . I think I'm gonna schedule a chat event tonight for after the MTV special, before I fill up several forum pages

Okay, I've scheduled a discussion/trivia event for shortly after the East Coast Showing (8:45 SL time). Check the events, and if you watch the special (or not) drop by and I'll try and have some trivia questions about the special. Hopefully your short term memory will be good enough to win some of the L$

Oneironaut - this reminded me of a place in Canada where they were growing experimental marijuana and for whatever reason they decided to dispose of the crop. So how does one dispose of an entire field of marijuana in Canada? Burn it of course. The whole damn town was high for a week!
God I loved Canada.

Actually, lol. . .have you ever seen, like the local news where they're covering the cops finding a large grow of marijuana, say a secret field somewhere or something. Basically, they just rip down the plants, pile them into a big pile, and make a huge bonfire. It must be cold or something most of the time when they do this, because, for some reason, all of the cops stand in a circle, real close to the bonfire One report I remember like this, the camera man seemed to be having trouble standing. The reporter looked, um, sleepy. And it seemed as if it what we were seeing was the last in several attempts to get the report right

I think we should have a big "bong fire" event in SL! I'll bring the weeds to burn if someone else brings the fire!

Wiggle, I feel your pain. . . I empathise bro. Hard to keep your chin up when the man is keepin ya down, huh But, just look at it this way, after you get that job, you'll feel like a responsible stoner (which you are, congrats!) And, you'll have zilcho tolerance, so your reacquaintance with the sweet sweet cheeba will be all the better. In fact, generally, I take 1-2 month breaks a couple of times each year. Not because I think I might be consumin too much (ha!) but because I do enjoy the pleasures of it so much that I'm willing to give it up for awhile so that I can continue to enjoy those pleasures at the same level. In the past week or so, I've actually talked with several people in our situation. Perhaps I'll organise a 'welcome back to the weed' party or something. We can all break our fasts on the same night. As intensely as you are affected that first day back, now wouldn't THAT be fun, lol Hang in there though Wiggle, you're a shining example to pot enthusiasts everywhere, and are helping to counter those cases of people not being responsible that the prohibitionists are always trying to claim are the rule and not the exception. Edited to add: I have sympathy for yah. I always get the uses of sympathy and empathy confused, d'oh, any one feel me on this?.

I have to be responsible, I have house and car payments along with all of the other bills in life to survive, like broadband cable and video games.
One thing about quitting for a while is that you get caught up on all of the dreaming you miss. Crazy dreams for a week or two.
A comedian once said that he became a psychic after quitting smoking.
"where are my keys!"
"Oh ya, they're on the coffee table"
"Where did I leave that"
"Oh yeah!!"
