Does anyone know the exact time for inactivity timeout? I don't want to sit and time it :)

No...thats the time it takes to shag a sheep.

I'm thinking 30 minutes for the timeout for some reason.

240 seconds to go into "away" mode, and then 600 seconds (maximum) in away mode before timing out.

There is no timeout because it can be worked around. For those who don't use workarounds, it's 30 minutes I believe.

Thanks Donovan - exactly what I needed.

Thanks Hank - now you got me sidetracked figuring out how to do a workaround :)

Idle time before AFK kicks in is configurable in Preferences up to a maximum of 600 seconds.

Inactivity logout is 30 minutes - not changeable. And if I have to get up one more time to wiggle my hubby's mouse because he entered a raffle and then fell asleep...... *sigh*

If you have a piece of fuzz caught in your optical mouse it makes for a great 'workaround'
mouse jumping back and forth 1 pixel (or twip) was enough to keep me on one time for a little over 24hrs.

A simple mouse twitcher will do the job quite nicely.

Hehe, well, in response to all these AVs doing the twitch, here's a little program of my own that in short sends an enter key to SecondLife window every 30 seconds. Its GPL, so have fun :D This program is an example of how easy it is to get around the timeout if needed.

Alternate solution: google AutoIt

CODE
While 1
Sleep ( 900000 )
MouseMove(Int(Random(800)), Int(Random(600)), 0)
WEnd

I normally wouldn't post something like this, but I think it is necessary in order to illustrate the problem with the Dwell system and developer's incentive program.

Not to burst any bubbles, but dwell isn't directly tied to the time you spend online, it's the portion of your total online time spent in each location. A person who is on for 24 hours in one spot gives the exact same amount of dwell as a person who is on for 5 minutes in one spot. ;)

A mouse twitcher is not needed if the intent is to game the dwell system. This does not help anyone's dwell past the 5 minutes required to get 100% of an av's dwell for the day. The only thing I can think this may be useful for is to go AFK by a money machine or to keep green dots on the map. Or I guess you could use it to really freak someone out by making them think you are a stalker. "I will wait right here until you log back in tommorow..."

Exactly. Dwell is counted once the 5 minute time has been reached. These twichers and my little app just keep you from getting logged out for inactivity. Hehe, thus why I never claimed my little quick app to be a dwell cheat, rather, just a way to circumvent the idle timeout.

I was hoping thou that a bit of dhrama would start up and someone would scream "So thats how Spittoonie gets its dwell!" "Nope, sorry, doesn't do fudge all for dwell for me!" :D

Oh, and forgot to add:

Besides, only 3 other people before to this post even had a copy of the app :D

If you leave your av logged in for 20 hours while you're AFK, that leaves you four hours of "real" playing time, and won't significantly drop the amount of dwell you're generating for your chosen club.

I usualy just plop my webcam or something heavy on one of my arrow keys and leave my avatar spinning while I go AFK if I'll be gone long. I even made a settext to wear that says "Oz is AFK, but spinning." :P

Why?

I dunno, I just like the ability to sit back down, turn my screen back on, and have SL ready to go, having to log in wastes another 1-2 minutes of time!
