**Summary of how to book mentor event or class & rules**
1. Check online event calendar, make sure no other mentor event is scheduled for the same time slot you are thinking about. Lets space them out a bit! No repeat events within 5 hours (like SL Basics scheduled twice within 5 hours). That is taken from the Mentor and Instructor note. When these changes go into effect, will this 5 hour limit be lifted? Seeing as only Mentor and Instructor events will be paid, this is going to cause alot of problems for those of us who would like to hold events with a limited schedule. I do not know what to suggest for this problem, but I do forsee this as a real problem. I am now wondering if I should cease work on my ideas for future Instructor events, since I think I will not be able to host the events at a time I am available.

Valid question Vade! Not sure if you received any answers yet, so I'll bump this in case anyone has thoughts or has heard anything.

Actually, that limit is why I don't host many Mentor events now. There are no calander slots during the times I'm awake. And many people schedule months in advance.

Yes, same position here. I am wondering if I should just give up with the current - Only educational events will be paid - because now those are going to be crowded for the money.

Does that only matter if you want to be paid? Can you host mentor & instructor events at any time if you don't care about payment?

I think you can... and that's what will happen... I've done it before. At the moment though, private teaching events are swallowed in the flood. So yes, I will be teaching again, Linden Sponsored or otherwise, as discussed elsewhere.
Ah, sorry... no, you can have them, but not as Mentor or Instructor events, according to the guidelines.

I'm curious about this myself to see if/when that will be lifted or changed. Part of me likes that you can't have the same events within a length of time of eachother but with all the time differences etc I think that it would be smarter to have it be every 2-3 hours instead of every 5.

Linden is in the process of revising the Mentor and Instructor event rules so your input is welcome.

I think mentor/instructor events need more variety. Right now there are 2 "newcomer come ask questions" events listed almost every day by the same mentors, which limits and/or prevents other mentor/instructor events because of the 5 hour time rule. I think there should be a limit on how many times per week a particular mentor or instructor can hold the same class or event in order to allow others to present additional material and classes.
Newcomers need 101 classes on texturing and building too and having 2 events every day that are "come ask questions" is not covering that need.
If there is no scheduling limitation, then the time restraints between mentor/instructor classes should be eliminated.

From: Haney Linden Linden is in the process of revising the Mentor and Instructor event rules so your input is welcome. Well, in all actuality, this really only nerfs Mentors. There is hundreds of things we as instructors could teach, but the Mentor side is much more limited. Q&A, Welcome to second Life, How to make money, maybe interface classes (possible Mentor activity), How to buy land, there is not even a 1/4th of the possible Instructor events I can think of that Mentors can hold.
