I remember how excited I was when I first learned about VERTU. I held events on my land for the sole purpose of raising money to give to VERTU. I created products whose proceeds went to VERTU.
Now VERTU is virtually dead. The website still has Heifer International as the "current" campaign. There used to be almost weekly posts about how the current campaign was doing, but I haven't seen any of those in I don't know how long.
If anyone reading this is involved in the leadership of VERTU, I offer my services. I can be webmaster of the site. I can use a dedicated alt to collect L$. I just want to not see something as good and as exciting as VERTU was disappear.
Right now if I was in charge of VERTU, I'd be soliciting to borrow a full, unused sim (I know they are there, I've been to them) for people to come and visit for 5 minutes of silence for those lost in the tsunamis. There'd be small donation boxes every so often in the sim, maybe a waterfall or something. All dwell money raised would go to the relief and rebuilding effor, as would all donations.
Please don't let VERTU die! Organizations of its kind are the only things keeping humans "human"!

Aaron great suggestion. This can be done at VERTU's land - you might wanna look up the VERTU group and IM to the Officers. They are in the process of reorganizing, but Im sure your input will be heard.

does anyone know of donation sights in place now?
For this diaster i mean, and not only a vetru set up.
Im thinking of putting up a donation spot on my land, and giving the proceeds to the red cross, but my land doesn't get a lot of foot traffic.

I am so relieved to hear VERTU is not dead. I wonder if Linden Labs could allow us the use of a full sim for a month-long memorial and fund-raising center... nothing in it but a waterfall and some VERTU donation boxes.

From: Aaron Levy I am so relieved to hear VERTU is not dead. I wonder if Linden Labs could allow us the use of a full sim for a month-long memorial and fund-raising center... nothing in it but a waterfall and some VERTU donation boxes. FYI, Nephi and I are talking about you in ICQ right now We'd love to speak with you. Unfortunately, neither of us can log into SL right now, because of SL database problems Anyways! You sound like someone who we'd like to get to know better Tell us more about yourself! You mentioned you've run VERTU events and created VERTU specific products before - that sounds great! I didn't know about this. Tell us more about that (Please forgive our disorganization, we're trying to rebuild VERTU at the moment, and we're still trying to figure out all the pieces to the puzzle)

I too was incredibly excited about Vertu, I am SO glad to know it's not dead. Had contacted Bhodi but received no response and was getting worried seeing the stagnation, especially during this tsunami emergency. I eagerly await news on the reorganization.
I'm still a newbie to SL skillwise....but have been obsessed and researching notions of using virtual worlds as microcosms for promoting realworld awareness and benevolent actions. Vertu was the closest I ever saw to achieving this beautiful goal and I want it to do amazingly well. If there is any way I can help please let me know.

I, too, have been wondering what happened to VERTU. I used to hold art auctions and donate a portion of the proceeds to VERTU. Is there any update on this situation? I never saw the folow-up post with the announcement promised earlier in the thread.
