More objects per map area needed

I have a small plot in Tehama with 6 objects on it. Now when ever I try to add anything the server is always full. There is empty (unowned) land around me, hardly anyone is ever home, so why can't they up the about of objects allowed for people who are online?

Means I have to go to the sandbox to play, but then if I create something I want on my land, its stuck in my inventory forever. :(

Thinking of moving, but if everyone builds lots of stuff (which I think is part of the main draw of SL), then lots of people will quit because they can do sh*t on SL.

From what I've read in the forums, there's a technical reason to limit the number of object in a region. The *real* question is this -- is there any way to remove unwanted builds from players who no longer use SL? Is there a process to go about just finding out of the owner is really really attached to it and wants to keep it?

I'm fairly certain that there are some users who are indifferent to their build and might be happy to strip it down even just partially to allow their neighbour to put up something.

yeah, I was just venting.
I was on last night and the were only a couple people in Tehama (saw from map) and it was just so limiting.

This brings back my idea that an autorezzing system should be built into the game to better manage the limited resources of each sim. There is no point in keeping stuff around if theres noone there to see it.

Eggy, lately when I've looked at the megamap, there has rarely been a sim without AVs in them. World's growing at a fast pace, and I'm not sure autorezzing would be effective anymore...

But I think the object limit, again, is just part of the game and it's something to work around. Keep in mind SL is a game far, far beyond its time, and for features that involve upgrading--well, perhaps we can just wait a while and see what the Lindens think about that. But they can see the object usage of each sim, they know what's up, and at their discretion they will let us know what their plans are for object increase. I think for now SL is escaping toddler mode and moving into childhood, but give it some time before suggestion upgrades in object usage, etc. I mean, if you really think about it, considering how much people complain about lag, who would want 5000 more prims in any sim? Would just make matters worse. I like how things are right now.

I have to agree, how do you tell when 'no one is around to see it'? And think of the load created when somone enters an empty sim and the whole thing tries to rez around them ...

hehe... I'm a bit scared of auto rezzing anything bigger than lights and my photoviewer ever since a failed experiment left me picking up parts of my house from all over my corner of Clementina :D

Autorezzing also carries a risk unless it is mandatory for everyone: someone else may fill up the sim when your build is derezzed, preventing you from rezzing it when you want it.

In most cases, when a player leaves the game, his builds and prims will become public 60 days after his account expires. They can then be deleted or claimed by other people. Don't know how this works in the case of Lifetime accounts tho. I would suggest to the Lindens that for every Lifetime account that shows absouletly no activity for 90 days, that an attempt be made to contact the account owner to determine his status. If, after 2 such attempts no contact is made, the account should be deemed abandoned and cancelled. If the player does eventually come back, his account could be reestablished, at no further cost to him.

How about his objects are all returned to him/her, his land is sold and the money returnd to him/her and they don't touch teh account status since that would open up all kinds of possible leagle issues.

If you stay out of the game for a long enough time, your land and objects go public. This is true even for lifetime membership folks, like WizGamer, who came back after a long time to find that all of his stuff was gone.

The hard limit is 10,000 primitives per sim. It is probably a good idea for you to move to another. Fly around a few different sims and watch your mini-map, the two indicators at the bottom are for object and land usage. If you find some place nice where you'd like to build, and there is available land, and the object usage is below 90% (and usually it's a good deal less) you're in good shape.
