It's me again, Atmos, with another long post. Well, i've been a long time member and renter of a private SIM called Briarcliff Manor. I started my first business there, and it's still standing there today. Recently, I went out looking for malls and vendors I could rent out, so I could expand a second business I just started. I was shocked to see prices at 50 lindens per week for 15 prims at some places, where the dwell was around 100. I searched around the boards and again was suprised to see houses for rent costing around 400-700 linden A WEEK. However, I talked to the owners of Briarcliff(Taylor Thompson and Feniks Stone), and as a friend I suggested to them that their prices for rent were extremely cheap (400 a month for a prebuilt house or shop, 50 prims, a place that generates 3000+ dwell a day, usually on popular places, and lagless sim). They were aware that the prices were extremely low, and were not concerned about making money or profit like clubs or malls (i'm not saying all clubs or malls are in it for proft ), but they were just happy to allow people to own houses or start shops who couldn't afford them in other places. On several occasions they had huge offers from groups to allow the sim to become another club or business hub, but refused them all. Many times I have seen Taylor and Feniks waiver the rent for some of the apartment and shop owners. Because they are not focused on making money or making profit, Briarcliff Manor feels like a true town made for SL, not created for personal gain. I'm glad I have a place where I can talk freely with my friends, without being used in clubs to gain dwell or gamble all my money away. Without their helpfulness and generousity, I would have never been successful in SL. I'd like to thank Taylor Thompson and Feniks Stone from the bottom of my heart, for showing SL the true meaning of being a member of Second Life should be. P.S. Check out Briarcliff Manor sometime, lots of fun times there.

Thanks for sharing this, Atmos. I'm happy to hear about people having fun and caring about people here instead of worrying about the almighty dollar the entire time they play.

I'd like to add that you may want to try out the new no-script sandbox for building, it really has been quite nice. Glad you're having a good one over on the island, I should visit and check you out.

Though I may disagree with Atmos on some unrelated things, he is absolutely spot-on here.
It's a lovely place with some excellent people. It feels just like SL should.
I just wish more people would use the nude beach. I feel silly all by myself :-/

Briarcliff Manor is definitely a nice place in SL. Great work! 400 L$ a month for 50 prims is very cheap. That is 2 L$ per prim per week. Way to go! There is also some lovely houses and appartments for rent in Svan, designed by Azrazael, similar price level for those who like snow. It is really nice there are still people in Second Life willing to provide affordable thing to people instead of rip them off with high price

I love the sim myself, seeing as I basically spend all my time there. Its a really nice lag free place, and I hope it stays that way. Thanks Feniks and Tay!

Thank you very much Atmos, and everyone else.
We created the sim looking for the spirit of community we had in beta and we found it.
Our shopkeepers rock, the townfolk rock, the visitors rock, Stevie Nicks rocks, and Taylor Thompson rocks!
woot!

This is kind of a necro post, but I'd also like to thank Feniks and Taylor for providing an amazing sim. I currently rent an apartment there, and it's just great.
