Taking A Break...

Hi all. Since I came back from holiday a combination of being busy in RL and a lack of interest in SL with all the problems currently has made me decide to take a longer break from being in-world. In view of this I've decided that as of Sunday 17th October, I'll be selling all my land in-world and shutting up shop.

I'll still be answering any support questions people have in-world and running the SLData system and I'll probably appear on the forums from time to time, but for the foreseeable future I won't be in-world much at all, and certainly not developing.

Thanks to everybody who's patronised my stores over the months. I'll no doubt be back more frequently at some point, but we'll see.

Moopf,

Sorry to hear you're taking a break from SL, but sometimes it is very, very needed. Enjoy your vacation and come back when the bug incites you to do so!

Have fun!

I've already had my holiday (came back a few weeks ago). Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Moopf,

I'm very sorry to see you go; you are one of the people whose loss will really have an impact on my sl experience. I'm also sorry that you are unhappy with the current state of sl.

I hope that you will take advantage of your time away, and when you do come back you will feel revivified again, and once more contribute in your individual way to this world.

Selador, thank you for your kind comments. I'm not unhappy with SL for any other reason than the technical issues really take the fun out of developing and selling at the moment. Things going missing from vendors, people not receiving items even when they are actually in the vendors, scripts dying, objects changing position, size and shape just because they feel like it etc. Then there's the packet loss, the major asset server problems, the problems that still exist with teleporting etc. I could go on but I'm sure LL will get around to dealing with them, it's just that in the meantime things are so troublesome to develop with that I may as well just take a break. I'm not bashing LL here, I think SL is wonderful, but I'm sure they'd willingly admit that at present the system does have some real problems that need resolving.

I'm sure I will be back at some point when things have settled down in SL (and settled down for work in RL as well) and it's fun developing again. Fingers crossed, eh!

I am very sorry to see you leave, but understand your reasons. Having only been a resident of this world for a little over a month I have already seen all the problem you mentioned and have seen them getting steadily worse.

I have enjoyed shopping at your stores very much and appreciate the contributions you have made to the SL community.

I wish you happiness.

Thanks Dain, I'm glad you enjoyed shopping at my stores. SL is something very unique, and something that I'd looked for for a long while online, it's just a shame that with all the problems the fun element has really been eroded for me. I'm not the social butterfly others are - I get my enjoyment out of developing new things, or building etc. As I said though I'm sure the issues will get addressed and, if they are, I'll no doubt be back once it's fun again to develop but, until then, that's me done.

And don't worry, I'm happy :) Although RL is very busy for me and I feel SL isn't much fun anymore, I'm happier currently than I've ever been. Having 2 small kids ensures that :D

Hopefully when you come back you'll be re-energized and the bugs will all be squashed. Till then, I'll miss you Moopf. You've been a great SL neighbor all over the map and among the very best SL retailers and creators. I'll be looking forward to your eventual return. :)

I've only met you in world once or twice, but you're a good guy and I know you'll be missed. Take care!

I forgot to say that if anybody is in one of the sims that I have a store in, if they would like to discuss buying the land before the 17th, I'm happy to do so, as it would be good if local owners who already have land in the sims have it if they want it. The sims are:

Ganymede (5000m2 approx)
Apukohai (512m2)
Butsu (512m2)
Blue (640m2)
Palulop (512m2)
Pomponio (512m2)
Rogla (512m2)
Benten (512m2)

The Natoma and Janus plots I need to talk to some people before I offer them to others.

The Janus land where my store is will also now be available if anybody in Janus wants to talk to me about buying it when the shop closes. The Natoma land is taken, as is Apukohai and Butsu.

By the way, thank you to those who've sent me IMs, PMs, emails etc. I appreciate it :)
