No, I don't hate what ever the hell 2L stands for, I hate the damn freaking two letters next to eachother themselves, what the blood hell is "2L"? Is that 2 Linden Dollars? Is that 2nd Life? Is that Linden Lab? What THE HELL IS IT?! I don't know who made this up, but I really want to hit them with my board with a nail in it and launch them over the SL (Thats right S and L) horizon. Why must we have these "cool" and "hip" acronyms? Am I that old that I find things like this annoying? Yes, apparently so. LL = Linden Lab SL = Second Life L$ = Linden Dollar 2L = Two Linden Dollars. My problem with this genuis of ad-marketing nausium is, well alot... but... 1) It reminds me of Txt Talk, DO U WNT 2 GO HVE FUN N 2L?! OMGLOL 2L ROX!!!!!!! 2) It has 3 different meanings (see above), it could mean Linden Lab, it could mean Second Life, it could mean Two (2) Linden Dollars, it could mean "LETS PISS OZ OFF", and thats one 2 many meanings for 1 acronym. 3) It could be labeled as "clever" or "cute", see, the 2 kinda looks like a backwards S, like SL, but the S is backwards! TEEHEE! While clever and cute aren't bad, in this situation they are evil. 4) Theres NO need for it, NONE, AT ALL. The above listed acronyms work, they are self explintory, they are easy to get (you see they take the first letter of the first word, and the second letter of the second word, and combine them!), and they have seperate meanings from eachother, they are easy to disginuish. There is NO NEED for some random confusing new acronym for stuff we already have things for that just makes it worse! And WHY, Why does this little 2 and L anger me so much? Maybe I'm bitter, maybe I'm very picky, maybe I'm sick of "cool"/"hip"/"clever" things, I dunno. But if I need to, I will make a website boycotting 2L, I made one for the term "boi" and will do the same if needed in this case. Yes I have that much free time and dedication to taking down a term. Oh and I think another reason for this is because I haven't had any sleep yet, I tend to rant when I don't get sleep. And no this is not a joke, sadly it is really something that bothered me this much. And yes I realize how sad it is, but damnit it pisses me off!

Prozac with your coffee today? That's right... sip slowly, swallow that little pill... sip and put down your coffee cup, breathe, 2, 3, and 4! I agree.

i type 2L, 3L, 100L, 50,000L because it's more convenient that typing L$2, L$3, $L100 or $L50,000. people always seem to know what i mean by it.
i would type L2, L3, L100 and L50,000 if it didn't look like i was saying 2 pounds, 3 pounds, 100 pounds and 50,000 pounds.
oh now i'm annoying you again aren't i? sorry. i'll stop as soon as i point out that i also sometimes type 50kL and people seem to know what that means too.
shall we talk about sm, m^2 and such notations now?

Sure, hookers are a Linden dime a dozen in SL! I know I can surely dig one up for 2L, just don't expect change. Cris, it just touches my heart to see you care so much for Oz's mental and physical health at his time of crisis. More people (and hookers!) need friends like you.

Who in the world uses 2L for Second Life?
I never use L for L$ because it looks too much like £.

My spelling gets even worse when I'm tired. explain* Julian, Terra Nova uses it, perfusivly, I don't know *what* they mean it to mean, if either they mean Linden Lab or Second Life, it seems to be used for either/or *everywhere* on their website. And yeah I don't use L, I usualy use L$, but as Khamon pointed out others do use it for that.

I never use L for L$ because it looks too much like £. That's because £ (UK Pound sign for those whos char-set can't display it) is a stylised L, short for Librum. Back from when uk money was written as LSD, Librum (Pound), Shilling, Denarius (Pence). Just like the Euro sign is a stylised E...

Pfft, everyone knows 2L means Two Lizards, and is a definition of democracy, since as everyone knows, you need 2L (two lizards) for a proper election.
(with appologies to the late Douglas Adams)

2L makes a lot more sense as "Linden Lab" if you go by chemical notation. Of course, it should more properly be L<underscore 2> but it fits better than 2 = second.

An underscore is this character: _ Personally, I find it amusing that the "2L" thing came from the "Direct Game Marketing" prank, (see here, here) where it was used to make fun of horrible new media marketroid-speak, and it's now being used rather heavily by Cory Linden's co-contributors to the Terra Nova blog. "It's a new paradigm!"

I saw it being used before the DGM thing.
But regardless of where it came from it must be stoped. It is the new bane in my SL existenz(purposely misspelled).

not a big fan of it, either.
SL is much more direct and to the point.
