I have just organized a monthly meeting for Second Life residents that live near Huntsville, AL. It is scheduled for the third Saturday of the month. Anyone interested in joining this group can go here Second Life Meetup

Also, if you want to sponser a group for your area then when people from SL are going to be in your area they can check to see if a meet is scheduled for that time, or email the organizer for an impromptu meeting.

Quick question -- how are you handling RL identities? Is everyone showing up using their avatar pseudonym? Public venue? Given that these are public meeting announcements, vs. invitations to select individuals, I'd tend to be a bit more cautious. Thoughts?

I am signed up for other meetup groups, I use both my RL and SL names as my name. I think there is a way to hide email and there is a profile that you fill out. I'm thinking you can use your SL name as your login name. Do you have a gmail account? I have one for my SL stuff and I can send you an invite if you need one, then you can register with that account.

I wanted to meet up with you all the last time you had one, but from what I heard it was just an after work for drinks deal. Hehe it'd have been a 5 hour drive for me to attend an hour or two of drinking beer and driving back home.

Meets are an awesome idea. I'd love to attend one or maybe host one. I live in Louisville, Ky if anyone wants to come stay with me? hehe
