Just wondering if this is feasible :)

Imagine you're testing a new product, and you need a bunch of testers quickly. Wouldn't it be faboo if you could IM the group, get a few volunteers, and test your product?

What if we had a group like Vin Fiz, with the Officers being the content creators needing stuff tested, and the MEmbers being beta testers?

Upshots: beta testers get free stuff. content creators get work done.

Feasible? Useful?

I'd join only if the group was titled <Lab Monkeys>

Speak to Tcoz Bach about his Tester's Group.

Still getting underway, due to some busy RL schedules, but yes, groups are already forming to fill this need, particularly as more complex games-within-game are created.

Sounds like a good idea, as long as you make it invite only, so we can have mature testers.

Sure, this sounds like a good idea. I'd do a little of both...I like to make things as well as break them :D

Sign me up as an eager beta tester.

In between doing RL "official" job duties, I also end up doing a lot of troubleshooting and testing for our company's software - and then writing it up in English, with detailed instructions on how to reproduce the error, and occasionally screenshots. Anyway, breaking stuff is a hoot, you're welcome to put me on the tester contact list if you like.

Yes in fact a real life UI dev project (it's actually great fun, I'm redoing a major email network monitoring product's UI with really high end Flash) has me in the code and graphics grinder these days.

However, I check into SL all the time. There are already people in the group looking for work. My standards for membership are easy (ask me and you're invited) but the group's requirements are strict (i.e., you have to do a good job, show up when you say you're going to, stay until the job is done, be attentive, provide meaningful feedback, that sort of thing).

Any level of tester is welcome. For instance, I'm ideal for trying to break things, either by trying to find exploits or just seeing bugs, because I've done a great deal of coding in SL and probably can figure out in short order how whatever you're having me test works. I've got some utility scripts that do channel scanning, object detection, and all that.

On the other hand, I'd be useless for anybody who just wanted to see if an SL noob could walk up to their game and play it. So yes, there's always needs for noobs (hmm sounds like a new store, NoobNeeds).

Oh btw you can talk to Jinx anytime about the group he knows the story.

List of Cool Things I've done first... I think
  1. Put on sale a key mod that makes SL more like an FPS
  2. Made my own custom attachment points - looking for a good use
  3. Found "secret" login screen.
  4. Created a way to call Java methods from LSL --> Thread
