This is an e-mail I received from my son today. I just had to share it with you all. Hehe


"Here is the predicted home computer for 2004 as envisioned 50 years ago by popular mechanics and the Rand Corp. I want one of these suckers to balance my check book and surf the web, that must be what the steering wheel is for."

I almost choked when I read 'FORTRAN' and 'easy to use' in the same sentence like that. Geez, warn people beforehand, why don't you? :D

....especially considering that if this had been a real article, the fortran referenced would have been the brand new very first version of it LOL. Also, that's not a steering wheel... it's an Etch-A-Sketch implementation of the mouse ;)

OMG Willow, I still have a working CBM (Commodore) Pet. It makes that wonderful little "deedle-eedle-eedle-eet!" noise when you first turn it on. *happy sigh* My shrine to computing. :D

Now I'm wondering. How would that old guy in the picture ever keep track of the dozens of gauges, buttons and levers, as well as manhandling those big steering wheels by himself? You would think that whoever created that hoax would have used a younger nerd in the picture. :D
