Inventory help needed!

With the latest patch it has become almost impossible to keep my inventory sorted.

My only solution to offer is just put it back working like it did when we could open a new window & slide things over without the window you are dragging from readjusting to the drop location every drop. Having to close all folders, or scroll all the way back to where you are trying to move stuff from is simply maddening.

My inventory has become totally unmanageable due to this feature.

Am I totally missing a way to sort that works well?
If anyone has a method that works, please share it with me!

It's because of this that my inventory is no longer organized! I just gave up. I have been keeping my inventory organized since my first week (thanks to someone that advised me to do this). But, alas because it now takes me longer to organize than to just find what i'm looking for in objects. Hopefully, this problem with the inventory will be corrected. I'm still hoping for a multiple selection feature as well. ;)

It seems that the new development technique for inventory, WHICH HAS SUCKED SINCE EARLY BETA, I might add, is to remove the few useful things it can do to help counteract all the stupid braindead features in it. I'm sorry to be so harsh, but the inventory is the worst part of SL. It is very ill suited for even moderately small inventories, let alone the size of inventories players have when using SL as intended. In addition to the annoying feature this thread is about, I have noticed lately that if you select a large group of items at once in your inventory and hit delete, instead of deleting, they disappear, and then come back one by one right back into the folder. Plllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssseeee help us with the inventory. It is that fundamentally flawed, please improve it dramatically. Hell throw it out and start fro scratch.

Totally agree. I could spend hours each day just trying to sort the wretched thing out but I am sick of having to close all the folders to which I move items. My objects folder makes me want to cry.

Do something please Lindens

Oh yes, textures - omg I can't even think about it. I have duplicates of loads and can't find the duplicates because I have so many sub folders. I reckon we could probably spend about a week sorting out these inventories, and still not get it right. Its depressing.

This IS maddening. So much so that this is my THIRD post about it.

Try uploading 50 pairs of new contacts, then making the eyes to go with them. THEN moving all 100 files to thier proper locations with this bug. Urgh.

Yeah, I get the same thing. I've had to resort to selecting 3 or 4 things at a time and hitting delete. Yes, inventory management needs to be improved.

I am fairly new to SL, but I have already posted on this as well. Inventory management in is the single most obnoxious aspect to SL. I have spent countless hours searching for items I know must be there somewhere only to give up in frustration. Inventory is incredibly important in SL. This should be on the top of the Linden's list.

I am with the others: Please spend time on this immediately - it's ruining the experience for many.

Why do we even need folders? How about a meta tag system which labels each item, under as many categories as you want, then have filters and search at the top to find what you need?

Example: A car I built might be labeled under my business name, as well as "Car", but a car I bought would just be "Car."

This would be great for outfits. You could put a clothing item into several outfit categories without having to copy it.

Also, there could be built-in meta tags which depend on the item type. For example, all textures have the "Texture" label. Ahh, textures would be perfect for this. A stone texture might be labeled Texture, Building, Organic, Stone, Gray.

OMG Milo, I think I may be in love with you.

I manage to keep my inventory sorted, even with the new stupid "features" but only at the expense of my good temper and colateral damage to my partner.

This solution would address every one of my inventory problems.

Milo, that is a fine way to put it.

Gmail uses a sort of similar approach where Labels are employed to classify individual emails into one or more categories.

We have the information -- what is crucial here is rethinking how we compile, access, and organize this raw data into something ultimately useful. In other words, BE ABLE TO FIND A DRESS FOR A PARTY... FAST! *giggles*

Yeah, Torley Sr. had like... ONE set of clothes. That was it. You know, neon pink trenchoat, logo'd T, fantapants, and Roland V-Synth under the arm.

Now... Torley Jr. has, like... *looks and squeals*

I'm confused. What's this "bug" with the inventory that everyone's talking about? I know about the one Cristiano Midnight's reporting where it takes multiple tries to delete a group of items, but I get the feeling that isn't the one everyone else is talking about.
