Anyone out there listen to Mash-ups? I live in the New York City radio area, and one of the few things I'll listen to on the radio is Friday night mashups on KRock...

For those who don't know, Mash-ups is when rap or hip-hop lyrics are blended with rock music, sometimes mixing the lyrics of the rock, sometimes remixing the whole tracks entirely...

... granted, there's some of it that I listen to and say things like, "Who did up this piece of crap?" or "Why in god's name did they perform sacrilege on Nine Inch Nails with Jay-Z?"

but other times, I find myself absolutely wow'd. I think this is going to be very big, and even if only a short movement like grunge rock or hair bands, the reverberations will be felt on the music industry by this independent-mixer oriented, anti-record label, high-tech, genre-mixing music movement.

Absolutely, Hiro. I've been obsessively listening to The Kleptones' "A Night at the Hip Hopera" for months. :)
